Those of you that have had Custom Builds on a Ti action was it blue printed IE: truing receiver face, doing the lug imbutments(sp), and chasing threads on receiver making sure they're true and concentric. Thanks in advance!!!!!

Re: Rem 700 ~TITANIUM~ Custom Build ?

I had GA Precision build me a 6.5 Creedmoor using a Rem 700 TI Action. After talking a few times to the builder Moon/Tim Roberts, he informed me that the TI actions were done/machined for Remington by Smith & Wesson and they are blue printed true and correct.

Re: Rem 700 ~TITANIUM~ Custom Build ?

Thanks OutLaw.........looks like I'll be doing a build with it, either keeping it a light weight 270, a 30-06 or a 280Rem!!!!!!!

Re: Rem 700 ~TITANIUM~ Custom Build ?

Titanium seems like an expensive action for a build. If I was spending that kind of money I would go custom action even if it were a little heavier.

Go with the 280.

Re: Rem 700 ~TITANIUM~ Custom Build ?

Buck being that I already have the action I figure no need to go with a custom action, the 280 will more than likely be the way I'll go!!!!

Re: Rem 700 ~TITANIUM~ Custom Build ?

Titanium is a lovely material, just has a couple quirks - it's stretchy, requires skill to machine and weld. A firearm is a good application for it.

Go 280AI!

Re: Rem 700 ~TITANIUM~ Custom Build ?

I built my wife a 308 on a titanium action manufactured by a company called
xtreme shooting products in Ohio and she loves it
its a 1/4 moa rifle no trueing or anything needed

Re: Rem 700 ~TITANIUM~ Custom Build ?

Thanks
the stock is a whidden 175 barrel is a 26 " kreiger

Re: Rem 700 ~TITANIUM~ Custom Build ?

13.5 it could be lot lighter

My wife just wanted something different than everyone else weight was not the
goal

Re: Rem 700 ~TITANIUM~ Custom Build ?

I would think that you would need to stick with a fluted #4 contour or less to keep the rifle well balanced with the titanium action. that coupled with a Mcmillan Edge stock would make a nice easy to carry custom rifle. The 280 AI is a sweet round and would be a perfect mate for that action.

Re: Rem 700 ~TITANIUM~ Custom Build ?

I've got a nice Dakota in 270 Win, and have an Argentine Mauser 98 at the smiths getting barreled to 280 AI now. Now that the 280 AI is commercially produced its ballisticly a better option with more powder capacity and higher ballistic coefficient bullets it's a better option then the older tried and true 270.

Re: Rem 700 ~TITANIUM~ Custom Build ?

Your wife has good taste in the film dip on the stock. I have that same pattern with a blue back color on a slide of a Glock 17.

I use one of their triggers on my FN SPR and have seriously been considering one of their titanium actions for my next rifle. Your post made up my mind for me. Thanks!

Re: Rem 700 ~TITANIUM~ Custom Build ?

Those of you that have Original Ti's that have keep them that way did you remove the pressure point in the stock or did you keep it there, reason I asked this one I have shoot CoreLokts(130grns) pretty doggone good. I kinda want to float it but scared to do so.
