I am new to this site and the long range precision shooting world. I just picked up a Remmy 308 SPS Tac AAC SD, that I dropped into a HS Precision Varmit/Tactical stock. I love shooting it, but have already grown tired of loading four rounds at a time from the top.

I have been looking at upgrading my BDL to a DBM and the only "drop in" DBM I have found is the Wyatt. I have read on here that some people like them and some don't. I like that it is "drop in"; however I have heard that AI mag set ups are the best way to go.

That being said, I am interested in your input on the Wyatt DBM. Also I am wondering if you know who I can send my stock to for inletting if I go with a system with the M5 profile. I live in Idaho and there is a lack of shops that I have complete confidence in for the process.

Re: Wyatt (M4) DBM

I'm wondering the same thing about the Wyatt drop in kits. Someone out there has to have some experience with these units.

Re: Wyatt (M4) DBM

They work just fine ... the drawback is that the mags are proprietary and don't interchange with AI/AW (and are a bit difficult to load). They come with a couple of shim washers so you have to fiddle around with installation to get reliable feeding (not difficult at all). They work but don't feel as smooth to me as a Surgeon DBM with AI mag. That said ... no inletting and function has been perfect in the two I have (.223 and .300 WM).
Regarding inletting for other systems, I hear great things about CDI.

Re: Wyatt (M4) DBM

I've been running a Wyatt's for a while now. The magazines are built well, but not well designed. Loading them is a little difficult until you get the knack. I'd also stay away from the 10 round mags. They are even more difficult to load and are LONG.

All in all, it works well for me. Well enough that I haven't gotten the bug to upgrade it.

Re: Wyatt (M4) DBM

I have resently had one installed on my R700. It works very well. I had a smith install mine because it is better to install the pillars. But he ended up using DEVCON bedding. The only thing that I don't like about it is the mag is hard to load. But oh well, i'll get over it. Just have to get on to doing it. I would purchase another one. If I had another R700 to put it on.

Re: Wyatt (M4) DBM

I grew very frustrated with the Wyatt's I had with a B&C medalist. It never fit quite right. I messed about with the shims and shortening the action screws, etc. The magazines are single stacked and as mentioned above are long and difficult to load. In the end, they work but kinda the way Lee reloading equipment works....Hopefully I will not inspire some hate mail for that one....

Re: Wyatt (M4) DBM

CDI In Sarasota,FL. has their own system, which uses AI mags. They will also do any inletting you need. My .260 is there now. They were very easy to deal with.

Re: Wyatt (M4) DBM

2nd for CDI. The owner also extended the group buy price to me WAY after the expiration.

Re: Wyatt (M4) DBM

i have the wyatts dbm system on my AAC-SD, it works well but if i could go back in time i would have gone with something else, like the CDI or a PTG.the mags work well, but they feel cheap.
