Looks nice!
Is that a FFP, mil/mil scope (if not, does Sightron make one?)? I'm hearing a lot of good things about them, recently. That could be a deal maker for me.

Thanks for posting,

John

I have no idea what an FFP mil/mil scope is, LOL! The scope is considered a tactical model, the reticle is called MOA-2.

Very nice, positive, looks like you can lock them with the torxhead like screw.

Luckily Scott shows up and lays some knowledge on us

I did not think they were FFP, thanks for the confirmation sir

the screw is for re-setting to zero. zero as normal, unscrew screw, pull up knob, align 0,tighten screw.

this one i believe is moa/moa,which is fine,..you either want moa/moa or mil/mil. also, they're giving you reticle measurements "indexed at 24x",which makes me think it's SFP,..and because LibertyOptics should know.

i bet the image you get is magnificent!

Re: The new, my new Sightron 8-32 X 56mm scope!

Thanks for the info, I thought the screw might be a locking thing, I did ask Sightron and it is a SFP scope. Is FFP better for longrange work?

Re: The new, my new Sightron 8-32 X 56mm scope!

i am hesitant to give you a truthful answer JGorski. imo,the correct answer is yes,no,it depends and that ultimately, the biggest difference is the person behind the "stick".

there have been threads posted here on this very subject with varying opinions and heated discussion.

my own POV is that, with higher magnification variable scopes and for the vast majority of reasons for which i would need/want a higher mag variable scope, yes,i would prefer FFP,but not at the cost of FFP replacing other qualities the scope has. a FFP reticle can easily add cost IF the manufacturer wants to get it truely right(on ALL levels, including, but not limited to,maintaining correct zero when zoomed all the way up and down). this means the company has a choice to make. should they make a perfectly working FFP and increase the cost and compete in an entirely different niche/market?,..or should they maybe sacrafice other qualities, like glass, coatings, turrets,a lesser warranty and maybe extra useful features that you really wanted,to be able to sell and maintain the same price and compete in the market they want their scope to be? if the latter, then my answer is no.

there are very cheap FFP scopes out there but i also wouldn't own one.

truth is,there is no free lunch. also, don't worry about it and just become proficient with it. like i stated, the biggest difference is the one using, regardless of FFP or SFP.

by the way JGorski,do you feel a detent at 24x as you turn the magnification ring?

Re: The new, my new Sightron 8-32 X 56mm scope!

this is exact scope i wanted...but wasn't in stock from where I wanted to buy it :-/ I ended up with a viper pst 6-24x50 sfp....I'll prob end up selling it for the sightron before it's over with lol

Nope, it goes right on by smooth as can be. And the image is very magnificent, guess Id have to view a FFP scope to see if id like that for longrange work, as of now I like SFP scopes, this dot will coverup 1.5" on the 600 yard BR target and thats where I intend to put all 5 shots, hahaha

Um, I think that Viper is made in China, not a good thing. Did you try Natchez shooters? They had the best price I could find.

Re: The new, my new Sightron 8-32 X 56mm scope!

they can't beat bigsupplyshop.com
my plan is to wait out the OOS and when they come in, hit up SWFA for a 110% price match... can't beat that! my best friend just did it for an 8-32x56 in mil/mil....

Re: The new, my new Sightron 8-32 X 56mm scope!

I might need to pick one of those up. It's not a true "Tactical Scope" according to my definition. IMO, FFP and mil/mil is a must for tactical shooting. However the SIII would be great for shooting tiny little groups and known ranges. The glass has been very good on the SII BS and SIII that I have had a chance to look through. I want one. Good luck with it.
