What are your experiences and opinions regarding these rings? How is their durability? Return to zero capability? I've only used them on a .22, and while I liked them for that, it hardly qualifies as a test...

Re: Leupold QRW Rings

Me and my son both used them on our long range pistols when we were using VGM mounts and had to take the scopes off quite often when setting up the adjustable mounts. We'd need to tweak a setting and take the scope off, make the adjustment and slip the scope back on and be exactly where it should be including the adjustment made to the mount.

This was out to 1000 yards on targets. I'd have no problem taking the scope off even in the middle of a match and reinstalling it and continue shooting the match. Chris Self (manufacture of the mount) said his buddy would take his scope off in the middle of a BR match and offer to show it to the fella next to him in a match just for kicks and has also swapped scopes midstream at a match so the rings are pretty darn reliable.

We did make sure to have them both set on the scope so when you reinstalled it and slid the scope forward on the mount to take up any slack and also tighten them EXACTLY the same every time. They worked for us but we've since moved on and don't use that setup but I had no complaints with the QRW rings at all when using them.

It's not the best way to go but depending on your needs and reason for wanting to remove your scope they do work pretty good.

Re: Leupold QRW Rings

I have had similar results with my Savage 116 and QRW rings. The important thing is to make sure you push the scope forward in the mount every time you replace it.

I run quick release leupold rings with a long eye relief Leatherwood on top my Marlin guide gun chambered in 45-70. They continue to return my zero without any issue. Matt

Re: Leupold QRW Rings

I like them alot, both the design and the price. They have a tendency to rotate the scope when you tighten the screws the first time, and im 100% sure they will return to zero. As stated above, you have to push the scope forwards while tighening it to the rail, so it rests on the recoil lug, and not friction created by tightening it.
