I am not one to s**t on persons/manfr's who do not deliver, however I would highly recommend you AVOID purchasing items from Pete Lincoln / Roedale Precision Hasgergen DE/ Germany . I will not elaborate, but will say this is the 1st time I have ever recommended not buying from a person/vendor. I generally have only a kind word to say or nothing , but am passing on a heads up here.

You have been advised.

Good luck.

Re: Roedale precision

I think lowlight requires true and honest details, otherwise you're attacking a site member without grounds... Because we can't read your mind.

So if you can manage to put the alcoholic beverage down long enough to explain what happened, in detail, intelligently, while maintaining a level of respect and professionalism, go for it.

Or if you want to keep it to yourself, then keep it to yourself.

Thank you

Re: Roedale precision

I have dealt with Pete on a few different occasions. Nothing but good to report. Thinking about buying one of his chassis for a Tikka pretty soon.

So as calling posted....please give us some details.

Re: Roedale precision

OK now that I have started my public rant ( which I regret), here is the email verbatum I just sent to Pete. He has been quick & courteous to answer my emails . I will spare the others. not trying to start a pissing contest, just pissed...

"I finally received the missing bipod piece in US post. I asked (paid for) the picatinney RH50
adaptor. 3 times. I received the AICS adaptor instead. Yes, wrong piece. 0 for 3.

1 my order took 12X longer than Roedale advised (10-14 days on webshop 1/20/2012)
2 Shipping Box was almost destroyed (too light duty for intl shipment) Some scuffs on merch, I will accept that.
3 Skins were wrong color
4 stock chassis had odd holes drilled thru it for the new Victor skins - way oversize for screws going
through the chassis. The area where metal was removed was colored with a marker, or not at all.
5 the RH 50 bipod picatinney adaptor was not sent in first order
6 ...Nor in the 2nd post delivery
7 The recoil lug depth is too shallow to fit ANY of my barrelled action rem 700 lugs. I tried
(measured) 7 different actions. none drop in. Also, lug cutout in chassis is too
wide fore to aft , so the lug, on absorbing the recoil, is not supported by the chassis.
meaning machining is required on both dimensions.
8 yes, I have a free AI .308 mag,

I guess the thing that bugs me the most, I bought the stock/bipod package $1200 USD +, primarily
so I could have the use of the bipod, and be able to use RH 50 on my other rifles, with THE
ADAPTOR I STILL DON"T HAVE.

Yeah, I know s**t happens, but this seems to have a particular lack of regard of value for $.

I have better things to do with my time than write this, but the above outlines the transaction.
Forget my being frustrated. I did not get what I paid for. stock I got was inferior,
although the bipod is excellent."

I have said enough, and regret what I posted here prior. No taking it back, so I will own up to it.
It is just my own experience.

Re: Roedale precision

You know, it doesn't really matter about the color, does it ?
I think the skins are superb.

I am off to do something constructive.

Thanks for the kind offer.

Re: Roedale precision

Dear Mr White.

First of all let me say that I am very sorry that you are unhappy with our service and our products. We often get complaints from customers who simply do not realise that the required steps to be taken on exporting certain firearms related items can be time consuming and as such complain about our service with regards to delivery time. We do very seldomely get a complaint about the quality of our products however and it troubles me greatly to read such comments.

If I may I would like to offer the following explination

The Remington RCS II special offer was given at a special offer price and advertised in our special offer section of the webshop.

There was a reason for this as there is always a reason for special offer products in any branch of any industry.

The reason for this was that the alloy chassis used in this special offers was our original RCS I chassis, re machined to suit RCS II side pannels. These chassis where manufactured to fit the AICS Long Action side pannels, which where the only side pannels we could get at the time of manufacture of the chassis back in 2010. I can assure you that the chassis is within machining tollerances for the RCS I chassis, which are the exactly comparable with same tollerances as the Accuracy International AICS. ( as a side note, the machining tollerances on the newer RCS II chassis for the Howa and Tikka have been tightened, and the first batch of Remington chassis soon to be produced will also be tightere on tollerance than the original AI AICS, this is a by product of a new cnc machine and a new operator as well as in the design and the way the chassis is put together, this tightening of tollerance is however not absolutely nessecary, I and many hundreds other customers use the original RCS I chassis with no problems and thousands of users of the AI AICS are happy with the match of Remington tolleranaces to stock tolleranaces, the main area of interface bieng the action bedding block. The remington action can actualy be bedded to the chassis bedding block with Devcon to ensure a 100% match and this is a step many choose to complete, many others simply dont bother and notice no real side effects of not bedding. I can assure you that you are the very first and only customer that has complained about the chassis / stock at all in over 3 -4 years since introduction.

Parts of the chassis where re-machined for the following reasons:

1. to remove the excess portion of alloy in front of the mag well that would fill up the gap in the long action side pannels. This made them compatible with the Viperskins short action side pannels. ( as well as AICS short side pannels)
2. to ensure compatability with the newer remington 700 triggers in the region of the safety catch. The newer X Mark trigger safety would not work without this as it sticks out further to the side and would bind on the chassis if material wasn't removed.
In addition i forgot to mention in my email that to accomodate for the extra screw of the Viperskins pannels and to accomodate for the varuiation if the shrinkage rate of the Viperskins to AICS skins the holes for the cross bolts where enlarged and one was added.

With regards to the depth of the recoil lug slot, either you are using a non standard recoil lug, in which case you need to machine the chassis to suit the recoil lug, which is common practice on AICS chassis,

or you are making the mistake of measuring from the bottom of the V block to the bottom of the slot and then comparing the measurement to the measurement taken from the bottom of the action to the bottom of the recoil lug.

As the Remington action sits in the V block, the bottom of the action does not actualy sit on the bottom flat of the V block, its sits against the sides of the V block.

Hence the bottom dead centre of the action is higher than the lower flat part of the V block when the 2 are assmbled together, so if you offer the action up to the chassis, you will actualy see a clearance of around 1.5mm under the standard Remington recoil lug.

For these reasons explained above and the fact that bare alluminium is showing in some areas ( which in no way detracts from the performance of the stock, and can also not realy nee seen from outside once the skins are fitted, we offered the last half dozen chassis as a special offer at a considerably reduced price as part of a package that was certainly an excellent bargain. You bought one of these special offers. I am sure other customers who bought these special offers are reading here and I can assure you we have had no negative feedback at all from them.

Now to your order processing:

Your order was made on: 20.01.2012 at 20:15:07

Your export permit application was made to the BAFA on: 23.01.2012 at 09:39:53

Your export permit was granted by the BAFA on: 01.02.2012 at 09:00:27 and the customs clearance was applied for.

Your Customs clearance was recieved for on: 27.02.2012 at 10:08:36

Your order was presented to customs for shipping clearance on: 01.03.2012 at 08:35:49

Your order was shipped after customs clearance on: 15.03.2012 at 14:54:16 with the following DHL tracking ID: 350030956747

It is very common for BAFA Export and Customs clearance to take between 2 and 8 weeks to complete, this is a buroctratic procedure required by the German Export Authorities and as such we have absolutely no influence on the time scale involved. By nd large they are pretty quick with orders for North America and Australia-Newzealand etc but occasionaly processing does take a while, and that is for no apparent reason.

Your order was made on 20.01.2012 and shipped on 15.03.2012. approximately 7 weeks later. It was however shipped within 14 days of bieng cleared by customs which is within the standard advertised turn around time.

We also have no control at all over however long the variouse shipping companies take to deliver a package once we have sent it. Our quoted estimated shipping times make reference to our turn around time until shipping and do not include the customs and export processing time or the time the courier or postal company take to deliver to a customers door. reading our terms and conditions would make that absolutely clear.

On 23.01.2012 you personaly requested a change of side pannel colour and addition of a picatinny bipod adaptor. The change in colour was incorporated and from memory i remember you aying colour didnt realy matter anyway, i should send that what was available fastest. The Picatinny adaptor was an item that unfortunately wasn't obviously on shelf at the time of shipping, otherwise it would have been in with the package, this item was on back order with one of our suppliers.

When your order was shipped everything was included exept this additional picatinny adaptor.

The Picatinny adaptor was shipped on as soon as it became available on 15.05.2012 with the following tracking number: Deutsche Post RG558894473DE - and the status was updated on 16.05.2012

you where obviously not charged any extra postage for the 2nd package and in addition we also did not charge you for the additional picatinny adaptor, sending you this as a freebee.

Whilst I can only appologise if you feel you are or have not not bieng properly taken care of, I do however feel you are bieng a little unfair in your comments and a little pedantic. I also feel that your posting here is unwarranted and un called for.

It is simple to check your order and shipping status online in our webshop and tracking numbers can be accessed there, it is also possible to follow the tracking with DHL or Deutsche post to at least entry into the USA, at which point USPS take over. If you checked your order status you would have seen that the picatinny adaptor was shipped on the 15th of May. It simply wasn't possible to ship one sooner as our supplyer didnt have this item available sooner.

If you haven't recieved the picatinny adaptor yet, I am sure you will very soon but to complain about it not yet arriving is a bit like looking the gift horse in the mouth.

I am however afraid I have to inform you again that special offers are excluded from our normal returns procedure.

As I explained before, You can however return the order for a credit note if you wish. A credit note can be used to purchase other items.

And as a gesture of friendliness and proof of my integrity and because I truely value your custom,(despite your recent outburst on here in this thread and in another,) and the custom of all our American cousins, I am pefectly willing to offer you the following:

If you ship us the stock back we can exchange the chassis you currently have for one of the newer production batch. We will do this free if charge for you, you will only be charged shipping and re export.

The latest production batch of the Remington version will be available in the next couple of months ( Tikka T3 Howa 1500 are on the machines now, Remington will be straight after that ) and I can also include one of our RCS II bottom picatinny rails if you have a requirement for one, again without charge. You can feel free to use the current chassis until I give you the word that the newer chassis are ready, that way we will keep your rifle's non operative time at a minimum.

Best Regards

Pete Lincoln

Re: Roedale precision

Thats good CS right there Mr Lincoln!

Re: Roedale precision

I have responded to Pete's kind offer. His clarification is of use to me & surely to others, and yes I do understand the receiver/chassis/lug fit. Yeah, this IS small stuff, precision machining; my expecting perfection in all things\, however is the wrong perspective.

I apologize to Mr Lincoln; I did not take into account fully how debilitating a negative post could be, and again regret putting it out there.

I am going to work with what I have, improvise & adapt.

Re: Roedale precision

Bill, i'm glad we got that cleared up. your first post did serously put my integrity in question. As far as i am aware the special offer was correctly described and you did infact recieve more than what you paid for FOC. the bare alloy in some areas is small stuff. your recoil lug issue is however not small.

I need to get to the bottom of the issue there, I have 5 chassis left of this same batch, all fitted to rifles, ( of the last 11 we sold 6 off as special offers and I kept 5 and recently built rifles on them) i pulled each one yesterday and tried 15 different remington 700 barreled actions in each, the remingtons ranged in age from brand new to 20 years old, all fitted in each chassis with 1.5mm clearance under the rail.I also compared to a couple of AICS, again ranging in age between brand new and maybe 10 years old. all the barreled actions fitted.

If you would please email me the measurements you have taken from the bottom of the V block to the bottom of the recoil lug slot and a picture or two showing the recoil lug area and your action and recoil lug i can compare.

To be honest I cannot rule out a machining mistake, the machinist who machined these is no longer with us and there are reasons for that, however it would be the only single chassis that was wrong from several hundred. I am fairly sure i personaly checked each and every chassis. But I too am only human. your help with that would be most appreciated.

Offer to change the chassis for our latest model still stands. Please let me know when DHL and USPS drop your adaptor off.

regards Pete

Re: Roedale precision

Pete, if I spent as much time shooting as whining, I'd be a far better LR shooter.
Your integrity was never in question. Lost my perspective, there are those with real problems & mine is not one of them.
