I got a call from Leupold today letting me know the Mark 6 3-18x44 I had ordered was ready for delivery. After a Code 3 run to Leupold (I live pretty close), I have, in my hands, what Leupold Tactical says is the first one off the production run. They are shipping orders starting today.

Mine has the H58 reticle and is a beautiful piece of work - and surprisingly light! Now I'm just waiting for the T-51 from TacOps to get here (still a few months off).

I'm trying to figure out how to post pics, but no joy. The FAQ says something about gallery forums, but doesn't say how to set one up, or otherwise make it work.

Interested to hear how the quality of the glass is on this compared to other Leupold scope lines. Can anyone shed any light as to whether the glass is better than the Mark IV line?

+1 how does the glass compare to other scopes in it's price range. I've been eyeing these just waiting to hear about the glass

I've seen vendor prices as low as $1800 or thereabouts. I got mine through the Leupold Fed/Mil program, so they give a pretty substantial discount.

Turk, I've got the pix I took when I picked it up, but you'll have to wait for some mounted photos. I have a Tango-51 from TacOps on order, but it won't arrive probably until later summer.

I thought my eyes were deceiving me...but then then I listened...glad they made the change. I am still wondering about the illumination as although they say it, I have heard from others that in fact they are NOT illum.

dont know why they canceled the VX6 3-18x44mm if they were making the Mark 6 versions. The build shouldnt be that different

So you pay more for a Horus and lose illumination! I know which reticle I won't be getting.

I'm looking for a milrad scope for my SPR and this looks pretty nice, but I do want illumination and a good reticle. I wish they would publish full specs soon. It really sounds like a great scope.

I'm so glad Leupold has finally come around to listening to end users again and making high-end tactical scopes. The last 10 years were pretty dark in that regard

This is correct. Look at the close pics of the 3-18x. There is no dial for illum. Disappointing. Rules out the 3-18x for me. Would have given it a try on my .308 bolt gun, but... I will not buy any optic in the future that does not have illum.

I do get mil pricing, so the 1-6x is looking very promising for both my LMT MRP and MWS for the price.

The Mark 8 doesn't have a seperate switch persay, I think the one's you see now are the Horus.

Nice scope! I noticed they updated the fmp store. Now only 1/2 of the stuff has wrong labels/pictures, but I didn't see any new scopes...

No illumination on the 3-18. The Mark 8 scopes are illuminated. It was not an issue for me, although I thought long and hard about the Mark 8 3.5-25 for F-Class.

I know this is kinda old now, but any chance you've done a little shooting with it and could put up a review? Any others have one they care to comment on? This looks like a great scope and I'd like to know how it does, especially in low light.

On Leupolds website they show this has eye relief that only changes 1/10 of an inch. Leupolds changing eye relief has been a big turn off for me for a long time. Can you verify the eye relief is constant?
