Does anyone have any ideas or have seen any fun projects or DIY deals that can be done with fired 17hmr and 22lr cases? I have baggies full of cases sitting here I was planning on stockpiling, then recycling for the $0.42 they are probably worth, but then I had the idea that somebody somewhere might have a other use for them. I have a couple young kids in the family, and maybe a little craft kinda deal would be cool, or something bigger for me to do. Just a thought, but what would you guys do with the 17hmr and 22lr empty cases??

Being as small as they are, you could use them to make a mosaic type art. Clean some, keep some off colored for depth in the artwork.

You could also do a scene from WWII or something similar with a few figurines loading an artillery gun with some .17hmr shells laying around the gun.

Im not super artsy or anything, but those are just a few that come to mind.

I read a magazine article about turning old .22 casings into do it yourself .223 bullets for use in a world's ending scenario. the article admitted they wouldnt be very accurate but i thought it might be fun to try and make em. I woulnt recommend shooting them for safety sake

Reload with the .22 cases. I know i have read a thread or two about making bullets out of .22 cases, and even read about 9mm being formed into 338 maybe?

use them for dry firing practice.

sort of related, i read somewhere that a guy used a .22 mag cage cut down to use as a spacer to convert a .22 mag to a .22lr sort of like a chamber sleeve. i don't know if i would try that, but sounds reasonable enough to work.

Drywall anchors are better for dry fire practice...
