Hi

Im a new user today :) (sorry for my english, im from Norway)

Im thinking of getting the premier heritage 5-25/56 tactical, there is no one i know in my country that sell them so im thinking of getting one direct from the US, but befor i do so, is there anyone who can tell me somting good and not so good about this scope? Im using the nightforce nxs 5,5-22. Was thinking of getting the barrett bros to it, but then again im not rich, so was thinking the upgrade to te premier would be the right move?

If i go for this scope im using it on my custom build AICS rifle, it will be in 338 lapua magnum, using a remington 700 action, a ceg bolt, high speed primer, and shilen select match barrel in 8#. also the badger knob and badger 45moa rail and badger muzzle, is it the badger usmc m40a3 standard 1.00" scope rings i need for the premier?

Thanks to anyone posting :)

Regards
David

Re: Premier heritage 5-25/56

David,

I have both a Premier 5-25x56 and a Nightforce 5.5-22x50. While both are good, I feel the Premier provides clearer images and I really like the Gen2 XR reticle. The Premier uses 34mm rings. 45 moa is more than many would need for .338 Lapua. Any restrictions concerning scope exports?

Yes the 1" rings will be perfect. However Barrett still does not offer any BORS option for the Premier optics as of yet.

How will the 1" rings be perfect on a scope that is 34mm just wondering

1" tall.

Re: Premier heritage 5-25/56

Actually at the last big match last weekend. If anyone was using a BORS it would autosense baro pressure/temp/density altitude and it would tell you that the density alt went from 2000-4000 within an hour or so.

But yes, if you stay on top of it. There are other methods to get the same info.

DHOOOO!

Re: Premier heritage 5-25/56

I think he is referring to the height. 1.0" high Badger 34 mm rings are just right for a S&B 5-25 x 56 PMII on a 20 MOA Badger rail on top of a Remmy 5R.

Re: Premier heritage 5-25/56

I've had Simmons, Leupold, NF, Bender and Premier...maybe more.

Of all of them, I like the Premier the best:

Glass is unbelievably bright
Resolution is fantastic
Tool-less zero reset is very nice
Built like a tank
thoughtful illumination control
Very fine control of parallax

But...

Its heavy
gen2 mildot is too thick at high power, gen2xr is too thin/small at low power (on the 5-25 model)
Theres often a "is premier going out of business?" scare
Reticles lack .2mrad stadia which would help ranging

Re: Premier heritage 5-25/56

I haven't owned a ton of optics but I have had US Optics, IOR, and Premier.

I currently have two Premiers (5-25 and 3-15) and love them. I do agree with Turbo and wish there was something in-between the mil dot and Gen2XR. I have spent more time behind the 5-25 and have had no problems thus far.

Thanks to all postes

It looks like i will try out the premier, its a lot of money for a scope so hope it is as good as the money

i like the turn knobes, big and easy to re-zero.
So i will get the badger 1" tall ringes for 34mm tube

Was just thinking if i would not get the premier i could get a new nightfore 5,5-22 with barrett bros for the same price as just the premier cost...

Re: Premier heritage 5-25/56

Whats wrong with getting a Bender from someone in Norway?

Re: Premier heritage 5-25/56

Nothing wrong with getting a smith and bender, just dont wannt one.. Like the premier, just need to find a used one first. Everyone has the bender her in norway, wanna try somthing else..
