what sling you running?

Re: what sling you running?

Is it more for carrying it while you're out hunting or do you want to use it for supported shooting? I have a TIS slip cuff and a TIS quick cuff, both are excellent.

For what kind of rifle?

My AR's wear an original VTAC 2 point. My AE MkIII wears a factory AI sling. M1 Garand, M14's (clones), M1 Carbine - USGI Canvas...need more details to make a suggestion.

Re: what sling you running?

TAB Gear Elite and soon the TAB quick adjust sling.

Re: what sling you running?

VTAC padded sling on my AR-type rifles. I haven't had the good fortune to try the Tab sling yet. Their gear is top notch...

Re: what sling you running?

+1 for the TAB gear: basic fastex one here.

Solid piece of kit, fantastic support/service.

What more could you ask for?

Re: what sling you running?

I was going to run the TAB sling but I chose the Magpul MS3, no real use yet because my AR is still being built.

Re: what sling you running?

I am running a home made sling 1.5 inch wide out of 550 para cord. but i am considering going to a tab biathlon sling cause my rifle just gained a little bit of weight with the new barrel.

+1 Great Slings-- Mountain Shooter

Re: what sling you running?

I just got a TIS sling in. But havent been able to really use it yet. Seem like it will work well and get the job done.

Re: what sling you running?

TAB or TIS! never tried a biathalon yet but happy with these 2 slings so I guess I dont need one

Re: what sling you running?

The Biathalon is a little bulky, but I love the flexibility of it!
Pretty awesome!

Re: what sling you running?

Sporting a TAB. Just started using it. Still getting use to a sling period. The whole arm cuff thing. Seems pretty sturdy and I like the adjustments.

Re: what sling you running?

I really like the MS3 the most so far.I find it very comfortable and adapts the best to most situations without a lot of fuss. Most of all it depends on how you plan on running the gun. Everyone's milage will vary

Re: what sling you running?

For a bolt gun - TAB or TIS. For AR battle rifle varieties - I like my Vickers Padded Sling. YMMV

Re: what sling you running?

Magpul MS3 on almost all of my systems. Easy to move from one to another and I like using it as a single point because I like to shoot both left and right handed.

Re: what sling you running?

Maybe I'm showing my age, but like others, I always end up back where I started...

Custom 1907 Sling

I have had one now for 25 years. Just keep'em oiled and they last forever. When new, just oil them, and hang them over a closet rail or a pull-up bar with 10lb weights on each end to stretch the leather. When broken in and well maintained, these slings just plain work (and well).

Re: what sling you running?

MarinePMI,

I too favor the M1907. They work and the combination of smells - quality leather, gun oil, and burnt powder - makes me horny.

I have Turners on a Garand and a M1903A1. I have a Ron Brown I bought from Creedmore on a second M1903A1. I have a brand new Ron Brown in my safe slated for my .308 LMT MWS when it arrives. In the future all my 1907 slings will be Ron Brown.

Turners are nice but the Ron Browns are serious heavy duty. R. Brown builds them to Les Tam specs -in fact when I tried to get a Tam, Les told me he was backed up about a year and he told me to get a Brown as they use the same leather (Herman Oak) and metal. Les taught R. Brown how to make slings.

Check R. Brown out I think you will like them. Creedmore had the Browns on sale last weekend for $10 off. I buy them when on sale or free shipping is offered so price is comparable to Turner.

R. Browns come in medium brown and black. If you are partial to the natural leather Turner uses disregard. The Browns are also so infused with oil that on first use they will bleed some color so be careful if that is a concern. It stopped after first use and my HP coat seems to have absorbed it or the Turners sucked it up because the discoloration no longer shows.

Re: what sling you running?

I use a synthetic version of the 1907 available through Brownells. Simple and durrable.

Re: what sling you running?

pmclaine,

Thanks for the heads up! I'll check'em out! (I need another sling for my JAE RSA 700 stock being delivered on Tuesday!)

If you dont like it and dont think its better than Turner feel free to post alll over the internet im a CS'er or Liberal (kind of both the same I guess). I'd deserve the abuse if I steered you wrong.

Re: what sling you running?

LOL! No, I don't think that would be my first course of action.

I'll try them out though, as you make some valid points and I can always get another sling if it doesn't work out. (I mean, in relation to the cost of an overall rig, what's the cost of a sling?)

Thanks again for the pointer.

What he said. I love my TIS Quick Cuff.

Re: what sling you running?

Well I have tried most slings designed for a sniper rifle and could not find one that suited me so I designed my own. I love my Mountain Shooter Slings!!!! I use them on all my bolt guns. Tactical or hunting, even the 22's are wearing them. Simple, strong, light weight, and 100% functional. MSS all the way. Brock
