Rifle Scopes Scope recommendations for Rem 700 5R .223

[MAG00]

Im in the market for a new scope for my Rem 700 5R .223. It would bet mainly for fun target shooting and hunting. I would be looking for something with mil dot reticle and in the $850 or less price range. Not sure if SFP or FFP will be a big deal or not.

What are y'all thoughts on the following or do you have other recommendations based upon my info?:
Sightron S111 6-24x50 mil/mil SFP
Bushnell elite tactical 6-24x50 G2DMR FFP
Vortex viper pst 6-24x50 mil/mil SFP
Weaver tactical 4-20x50 mil/mil FFP

Also, what halls thoughts in SFP versus FFP based upon my info?

+ Vortex. After the sale it is service that counts. They have some of the best CS in the industry. The only two things they will not cover are theft and loss. Anything else they will fix or replace for free.

Seriously, you have to ignore those guys and listen carfully to what I have to say here.

go to SWFA right now, go the demo section. they have a IOR Valdada in 2-12x32 with .223 comp and side focus. it is the perfect application for what you said your needs are!! it is only $999 so its just a tad more than your budget, but should squeeze it out!

Bear in mind, what you said your needs are. I've done a LOT of hunting and taken LOTS of trophy bucks, NONE of which were over 100 yards, and many that were under 30. I can tell you with cetainty, that for hunting you need that wider field of view and quality, clarity and zoom range this scope offers!
You NEED this scope!

I know this because because I bought the same scope for my 223 having the same needs.

Go bigger if you want, but the trend to go bigger on a hunting rifle is in all honesty just silly if not detrimental to your hunting. This is one of those cases where bigger is not always better.

Valdada is great. this one is my second one, having bought a larger one for my sniper rifle. I was so impressed, and it made all my other scopes look like such crap, that bought that second one. I will be selling all my crap scopes and I will never by a crap scope again.

Ask yourself why never these high quality scope for sale used? Yet you see tons of the cheap one for sale used.

you get what you pay for in scopes; the difference with good scopes is that if you ever sell it you get much of that money back!

Additional info: I think I want at least 15 power and a 50 obj.

What is you alls thoughts in SFP versus FFP based upon my info I provided?

Any other scope recommendations?

How far will you be shooting? I would also consider the Weaver 3-15x 800363. It has almost twice the amount of adjustment as the 4-20x.

I have the same gun. I was closely looked at that Bushnell and think its a great option for target ,plinking and training Which I expect you will be doing more of that with this gun. If your more interested in hunting, back down to the 3-12 X44 Bushnell.

With all of the talk about SS 5-20 from SWFA in the last 2 months, I'm surprised no one has suggested it. A very nice reticle to range with.

I've shot one for the last 8 months and decided to buy a second.

Vortex is good stuff too. Customer service is the biggest reason,
and the reason I won't buy any more Bushys.

Or the new 10X fixed with HD glass should be a bit cheaper.

1)Customer service.
2)great reviews on tracking and durability.
3) easy resale when you get ready to up grade.

I noticed that the two units you recommended...one is FFP and the other is SFP. Do you have any preference between SFP or FFP. If so, why?

The Sightron SIII glass is exceptional, I have the 6-24 LRMOA for my .338LM and very happy with it. I've only had a fleeting look through a Vortex PST so can't really compare I'm afraid. All of your shortlist look like good options.
