I am looking for a simple portable weather meter for temperature, pressure and altitude. I would prefer a watch but, I am open to other suggestions. The purpose is to record environmental conditions in the databook. I am not interested in dropping a bunch in a kestrel just yet.
Thanks

Re: Handheld thermometer thats not a Kestrel

They look awesome but, way out of my price point.
Thanks

Re: Suggestion for simple thermometer and barometer

I have a Casio G-shock Twin Sensor GDF100BB-1 on the way. If you don't go all black you can get them under $100.

I can give you a review compared to my Kestrel after the weekend (it will not be here till Thursday). I am hoping it will be good enough for when I don't feel like dragging all the equipment out.

Buy this..works great, same outputs from a Kestrel for absolute pressure, temperature and compass

Re: Suggestion for simple thermometer and barometer

On a similar topic I had a chance to use a Dwyer wind meter not long ago. Cheap ($20) and no batteries to replace. Maybe low tech is the way to go.

Re: Suggestion for simple thermometer and barometer

Thanks for the input. I would really like to see how close the watch is to the Kestrel. That would be perfect.

Re: Suggestion for simple thermometer and barometer

The Casio watch is pretty close.

Barometric pressure was .5-.7 off usually low.

Altitude was with in 40' (also usually low).

Temp as most watches is useless unless it is off your wrist. It was 10-20* high on my wrist. Within a few degrees if i took it of and let it sit for a while.

Put in numbers from Kestrel and my watch into ballistic iPhone app and it was very close. Came up with the same drop out to 600yds. (used 50% humidity)

I like it worth $120 I paid.
