A few ladder test questions

So I am going to do a ladder test with my rifle this coming weekend. I am doing 3 sets of 10 in increments of .3 grains difference at 300 yards. The vast majority of the time I fire from the prone position. Should I conduct this test from a bench rest to ensure the result have the least amount of human factor involved? Or should I fire from the prone like I normally do so that the results dont change when my position does? I am worried that the barrel harmonics might be different when I go to the prone position. Thanks for any help fellas.

Re: A few ladder test questions

I'd say do the test like you normally shoot. Whatever you are more comfortable with and whatever gives you better repeatable accuracy should be your choice. As for barrel harmonics, I'm no expert but if your barrel isn't touching anything or you're not adding a supressor, brake, etc. your harmonics shouldn't change.

Well I shoot better on a rest just because of all the support , and you do make a valid point about the barrel being free floating. That makes sense so I guess I will shoot it on a rest. Thanks for the input.
