Hi, I'm debating between this 3 scopes, IOR Valdada 3.5-18x50/Leupold ER/T 6.5-20x50/Steiner 4-16x50... I would apprecite some input from owners. I want the scope for my GAP Crusader.

Thanks

Re: Tough decision on which scope!!

I'm guessing the Stiener is the most expensive, but it doesn't get talked about much. How did the Stiener get on your list?
I'm sure the IOR has better glass than the Leupold. I have an IOR and I will most likely get another one some day as I think it's the best price for that level of glass. I hear negative things about the Leupolds value so I steered clear of them.

Re: Tough decision on which scope!!

Sorry, haven't touched one of them. Seems like you are comparing scopes with different magnifications. that's the closest they run together? Don't forget the reticle - its as important as anything.

Re: Tough decision on which scope!!

Depends on your money restrictions and priorities.

Leupold
1. Made in USA
2. Lifetime warranty
3. That scope is a solid scope

All people can say bad about Leupold higher end scopes in general is that the glass is not clear enough for you to see heat mirage. So, how important is being able to see heat mirage to you will be the determining feature in ruling out the Leupold.

Re: Tough decision on which scope!!

This an interesting list of scopes for sure. Tough to make recommendations on those 3 as I've never owned them. I can also say that I've never seen the IOR or the Steiner at a tactical match, possibly the Leupold but that model would be rare.

What's your budget and what type of shooting do you plan on doing with it. Lit reticle important to you at all?

Assuming you want to be $1500 to $2000 I'd be inclined to change the list to be something like:

Leupold Mark 6 3-18
Vortex 5-20 Razor
SWFA SS 5-20

Re: Tough decision on which scope!!

I have owned the Leupold and really liked it. Hard to go wrong with them for the money. They track really well. Used it out to 1500 yards but mainly for 600 F-class

Re: Tough decision on which scope!!

I have the IOR Valdada 3-18x42 and am thrilled with it, so much so that I bought another one for a rifle I already had scoped. Now all the scopes on my shelf look toys compared to my Valdadas. Be aware they are on the heavy side, which I like.

Never been a Leupold fan, just me. And though Steiner is great, I really believe 16x isn't quite enough, which is what made me eliminate so many options when I was on the market.

Re: Tough decision on which scope!!

Out of the three I've only had experience with Leupold.. they are great, not the best but they have top notch customer service.
