Range Report Just over 1/4 MOA @ 540 m

Well, I went out shooting today, and did really well. I shot 53 rds for my R700 .300 win mag. I was shooting at a 8" gong, but my target stand broke. Guess I'll have to build a better one. I moved to paper targets and I was liking what I was putting down range. 1.608" 3 shot group at 540m.

Looks to me like you shot the hostage... Brag about the accuracy all you want, but you still killed the good guy...twice.

Just kidding, that's some great shooting! I just started with the 208s in my .308 and if I can get results like that, I'll be a very happy camper.

Yeah I know, I wasn't thrilled when I saw that at first, but then I just didn't care and liked the group size more. Thanks Valere. The 208's work very well. Heck they even had 225 that I might try out.

Your velocity is slow in what I and others are getting. I am getting 2900fps. But what you have is working for you and looks great. You will have great barrel life for a 300WM.

+1. I get faster than that from my 22" 300WM.

IIRC, around 70 gr. of RL22 was a good velocity. Try H1000. Cleaner and less temperature sensitive. Start low and work up, but around 76 gr. seems to be really common. Not unusual to get 2950 with 208's from a 26" barrel.

I've tried more powder, but I get pressure signs and my bolt won't open. I know my load now is a keeper, butI would like to get a litte faster fps to make it out to 1k without as much drop that I have now.

I will try H1000........I just don't want to do the load develpoment for it right now. I'm lazy, what can I say.

I just assumed he was shooting at a group of hoodlums and that all 3 were guilty.

Great shooting. Can't wait until the day I can actually go shoot out to those distances.

How long is your barrel?

My 26" 700 I get 2840 fps with 76gr of H1000 pushing a 220 SMK pill.

I have a 26" barrel. I have had more powder but just kept getting pressure signs and really hard extractions. So I decdided to go a little slower, but still great accuarcy.
