Hey guys, first few posts here. I was wondering if any of you have had the problem of "ringers". You get this apparently, and I just learned this, when the brass has been wet for some time. I think some sort of galvanic reaction takes place and the primer rim gets glued inside the primer pocket. The top of the primer gets pushed out but the rim stays inside the pocket. I can't get it out with anything! I've tried drill bits screws screw drivers etc. If you have any ideas please let me know!

I just bought a leyman pocket uniformer hoping that if nothing else I could just grind out the rim on the primer. I just didnt know if there was some trick to this that I could learn.

If I can't get the rest of the primer out I use the brass to set my trimmer with or set dies with. Eventually they either get turned into a dummy or recycled.

EEP well this happened to about $100 worth of cases, so I really want to find a way to fix them. I am going to try a few other things like heating them with a lighter.

The best penetrating lube I have found is 50-50 acetone and ATF. Mix it up and dip the base of the cases into it and let them stand for a while to let the stuff creep into the pocket.

OK thanks, I'll let you know.

At some stage - things are no longer a "value." Get some better brass, call it good. Lesson learned. There is tons of 308 brass out there.

Usuallt the LC LR brass is top notch.

May not be anything wrong with the brass but is it worth the time? I'd look at trying the uniformer in a drill or drill press but if it takes too long to save the case is it worth it. Most of my brass is pick up from issued ammo matches (Navy/BHA or LC)and every so often you get some losses.
