I was recently gifted a what seems to be very expensive BRASS one piece cleaning rod. I am not accustomed to this i usually just use a rubber coated dewey rod. What do y'all know about a brass rod? good or bad? should i use it or stick to rubber?

Re: Brass cleaning rod

I believe the brass could eventually have some foreign object embedded in it,that may scratch the barrel. Personally, I would stick to a coated Dewey one piece rod or the like with a good bore guide. That's my $0.02

Re: Brass cleaning rod

well i have two of the exact opposite responses. i guess i should flip a coin

Re: Brass cleaning rod

but force multiplier your response makes more sense as brass if more dense than rubber.

Re: Brass cleaning rod

Dewey rods are NOT covered in rubber but a hard plastic over a stainless steel core.

Which is more likely to get bent easily thereby ruining the rod? I'll stick with Dewey over a brass rod any day.

Re: Brass cleaning rod

I think it will work fine if you keep it straight, I use Tipton carbon fiber rods and I am very pleased with them.
