Sidearms & Scatterguns cant make up my mind glock or 1911

Re: cant make up my mind glock or 1911

Perhaps you'd want to check a few facts yourself...
Kimber doesn't "parkerise" any of it's models.
The only pistols guaranteed NOT to be stainless are the polished blued Royal models.
Concerning recoil, go look at your pistol and see which parts are acting upon which as you fire it. Of course you might want to stick with your
"stainless absorbs more recoil argument because I can feel the difference" argument regardless. In which case I look forward to your entertaining rebuttal...

Kimber put a special coating on their pistols called 'KimPro'. It's really no different than parkerizing. Do you own a Kimber? What makes you an expert on them?

I own 9 of their various models and am quite familiar with their coatings and materials procedures.

Again, you might want to check your facts before you go talking about something that you have no idea about.

Kimber Custom II : Frame and Slide material .... STEEL

Kimber Custom Stainless II: Frame and Slide material ... Stainless Steel

http://www.kimberamerica.com/1911/custom-ii/stainless-ii

The only pistol line that Kimber makes that is Stainless Steel under another finish is a few pistols in their Super Carry line, their Tactical HD, and maybe 1 or two others.....

Even at that rate ... if it's a general aluminum framed pistol line that has the Stainless Steel material it will be denoted by an "HD".

I'm done. It's obvious I'm arguing with people who have no idea what they're talking about. I do this for a living, and have no reason to argue what I know to be true to a couple of internet trolls.

I will restate my case for the record:

A stainless steel 1911 has less 'felt' or perceived recoil than a standard steel or aluminum framed 1911. My final words on this thread!
I bow out!

For those of you who still doubt me ...

Don't take it from me. Take it from Dick Metcalf and Garry James. If you don't know who they are ... well ... you should know.

Re: cant make up my mind glock or 1911

Personal preference comes down to the pros and cons. I like the 1911 because of its heritage, reliability, thinner profile allows me to conceal a full size better, I cant do that with a Glock. BUT, I am limited to 7-8 round mags. I will choose a mid size Glock, as its a nice go between with additional ammo and concealability. I will admit, I am a Glock convert, being a HK guy. I still prefer a full size HK, but have also found a place for mid-size Glocks. Your use, physical characteristics, shooting styles, and carry preference is what is going to dictate which one will suit you. Its not a question of which one beats the other, they both excel in what they do.

Re: cant make up my mind glock or 1911

Two guns that couldn't be more different.

1. The feel of the 1911 is vastly different from the feel of the glock in your hand.

2. Bullet capacity

3. Weight b/c of polymer lower on the glock compared to the all metal 1911

4. Double action vs single action only

May as well get them both in different calibers so you can justify a 2 gun purchase in your mind

Just because you do it for a living doesn't mean your good at it; and perhaps you should consider a different profession! May I also suggest putting up some facts rather then running your piehole and being rude.

Re: cant make up my mind glock or 1911

As someone who does this for a living, I'm kinda surprised you dont know the difference between a spray and bake like Kim Pro and parkerizing. Or indeed that you can't parkerise stainless steel. You could at least have googled it so you don't look such a twatwit.

Search my posts over on 1911forum.com and you'll see pics of some of the Kimbers I own and some of the other 1911s I own.

Now that we know, without doubt, that mine is way bigger, straifhter an longer lasting than yours, let's get back to your hilarious claim that stainless absorbs more recoil than carbon steel...

Re: cant make up my mind glock or 1911

i have a wilson and a nighthawk, and both have ran flawlessly.

i ended up selling all my glocks because i couldnt hit shit with them.

i only use 1911's now because i hit what im aiming at with them and can get on the target much more quickly. sure, i give up some mag capacity...but whats 20 rounds if you cant hit your target.

Re: cant make up my mind glock or 1911

My 2 cents........if you want a cool gun that could quite possible be finicky with ammo, mags and be questionably reliable buy a 1911. Although once you get it running good there is nothing like it in my opinion.....

On the other hand if you want a pure ammo eating machine that is not so cool buy a glock.....they just fricking run....

I have a Kimber, Nighthawk, and a full custom 1911 made by a local gunsmith. All were a bit finicky but once they get broken in they are great. All 3 glock and 3 s&w m&p's have never let me down...ever.....

Re: cant make up my mind glock or 1911

You cant go wrong with either choice, the market is flooded with tons parts for both of those guns so customization will not be an issue. I have both, but i personally prefer my 1911.

Re: cant make up my mind glock or 1911

I own both. I love my 1911, but I always leave home with the Glock. At the range I would rather shoot the 1911. The Glock is such a work horse though. My vote is buy both!

Re: cant make up my mind glock or 1911

I like pork chops. They're really the best. Unless you want something like a steak. Some people think they're better. You should get both.
