Other than Alpha magazines who makes a good product? I have tried for 3 days to contact Alpha and left voicemails without a response. The gun is a factory Remington 700 short action with a McMillan stock and badger bottom metal.

Thanks,
Hunter

Re: Magazines

I talked with Chris from Alpha this morning. He was picking up a shipment of mags and filling back orders. He told me to order on the website and it would be filled today or tomorrow.

Re: Magazines

I planned on ordering from the site, just needed to know if I needed a type 1 or type 2 magazine. Maybe someone on here can help

Re: Magazines

That depends primarily on what the cartridge overall length is that you plan on shooting. Is it factory loaded ammo?

Re: Magazines

I shoot factory federal 168 grain ammo. Is the magazine I will need on backorder? Thanks for the help

Re: Magazines

Your OAL will (should) be 2.80" or less with factory loaded Federal ammo therefore you will be fine with the Type 1. I'm not sure if yours is on backorder, I ordered a Type 2.

In case you're tempted to order the Type 2, you should know a Remington 700 short action will likely require a small amount of modification to the action for the magazine to function properly. That means taking a dremel tool to the steel on the bottom to cut a feed ramp or taking it to a gun smith if you're not comfortable doing it.

Re: Magazines

Any other companies make good magazines? I hear slot if good things about Alpha but would also like more options

Re: Magazines

Accuracy International is pretty much the standard.

$79 for a 10 round .308 mag at Brownells and a little less for a 5 rounder. Use the code DQX (or DXQ, sorry I can't remember which one) for free lightweight shipping if you choose to go there. It'll save you about $6.

$74 and $63 respectively at XLR Industries website, though I'm not sure of the shipping costs.

Mile High Shooting about $77 and $64.

Your options are many but it would be nice to stick with a site sponsor if ya catch my drift.

Re: Magazines

I bought a stock from a member but he had already sold the magazines. I will order some from triad. Have bought some stuff from you guys before and y'all are awesome!

Re: Magazines
