Does anyone know where to get the "old style" front block/bipod mount? My stock came with the extended one for night vision mount, I would like the flush one thanks.

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

Does anyone know for sure if you can switch out just the block or is there a difference in the chassis? Thanks in advance your help is appreciated.

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

from what I have seen and researched they are the same 5.56 fan but good luck finding one I have been searching now for 2 months and I have been on some waiting list at Mile High and still have not heard anything. If anyone knows please let me know.

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

I called the AI dealers, and no one has short blocks in stock. AINA doesn't have them either. Apparently, the blocks are made in England. An E-mail asking if I could order one went unanswered.

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

The superb customer service is from the dealers/importers in the US....

Dealing with companies in the UK is a whole different bag of worms. I deal with some of them to import electrical supplies to Afg and Iraq and they are a PITA. Definitely not the same level we are on.

I contacted Euro Optic's a little over a month ago and was told they couldn't get them.

Mile High put me on a waiting list for when they get another shipment.

That's good to hear Tom. How long before they will be available to Hide vendors?

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

Tom thanks for the reply, but what number should we call to order those? Thanks again eagerly awaiting the short block.

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

Michael, I personally know about 6 guys that would buy one if they were available. I'm confident that there's a lot of folks out there that hate the new block and would love to replace it. Any help is appreciated!

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

Tom,

does removing the block alter the front to the point where you cant use an AI spigot from B&T?

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

So then why doesn't everybody just remove the front block?

Heres the directions:

Remove AICS front spigot
This is easily done.
1. Drive out the spring steel pin.
2. Slide the bipod adaptor housing slightly forward.
- This releases the sling adaptor cross piece from it's notched
housing.
3. Tap the sling stud bar through the stock fully releasing the
bipod spigot adaptor.
4. On the newer AI chassis there is a rubber bumper that sits
below the sling adaptor to prevent rattling. You may shoot
a little WD-40 on it to facilitate easy removal.
And yes, the stock sides must be removed first.

Because you'll have a hole in the stock where the spigot was and the swivel stud will be flapping in the breeze.

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

Maybe if we get enough people together we can find a machine shop to make us up a batch, that or I get a 5 hour energy and the dremel out...

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

I have a compromise, since AI has no original blocks, and don't return calls or answer the phone... Maybe you guys at AI can donate night vision so we all have a use for the extended front block, and if you could throw in the mount that would be nice thanks in advance.

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

Called AINA this morning and spoke with Patrick. The blocks have been shipped to the dealers. Called Mile High, and they're expecting them to arrive any time.

I ordered a block on my credit card, and it will ship out as soon as they arrive. Don't know how many are in the shipment, but if you want one, I'd suggest doing the same.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: 5.56FAN</div><div class="ubbcode-body">So any time? Did they tell you how much they are? Thanks. </div></div>

All I know is they've been shipped and are supposed to be arriving very soon. Mile High didn't have the price yet, but I'll gladly pay whatever it turns out to be to get rid of that God-awful long block.

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

Mile High just shipped my short block. Price is 77.09 plus shipping. Can't wait to give the AICS a nose job!

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

Got a call from Mile High today. My short block and 10 round mag are in route.

Great service.

Re: AICS 1.5 front block

Just finished installing the short block, and it's a fairly painless task. Here's how I did mine.

1) Remove the action.
2) Remove the skins (the action screws will fall out at this point, as they're retained by the skins).
3) Remove the 2 hex head screws, and drive out the large roll pin holding the long block. The sling/bipod mount will fall out of the bottom once this roll pin is removed.
4) Pull the block slightly forward, and slide the sling mounting plate out from either side.
5) The long block can now be removed.
6) Drive out the small roll pin which holds the release lever and spring into the long block.

NOTE: The small roll pin will have to be shortened, as it has to fit inside the chassis with the short block installed.

7) Install the release lever, spring, and shortened roll pin into the short block.
8) Remove the round rubber spacer from the top of the long block, and install it in the short block.
9) Install the short block in the chassis, and slide the sling mounting plate in from either side.
10) Install the bottom sling/bipod mount, and the large roll pin.
11) Install the action screws, attach the skins, and install the action..

You'll have the 2 screws left over that secured the long block, as they're not used on the short version.

Finally!

I have two AICS - two with the short blocks and one with the long. I'm hoping I will be able to just make a swap long for short between two of the stocks...

Hope its easy.
