Is $1500 cash a good price for a new, never fired H&S stocked MLR in .338LM?

Thanks in advance.

Re: 700P MLR .338LM

Yes. $1800 is starting to be a good deal on a NIB rifle. Big green bumped up the MSRP well over $2k on these.

Re: 700P MLR .338LM

Next question, now that I own it.

Does the Fat Bastard by APA require any fitting aside from the length of threads?

In other words, do I have to change the bore of the brake to fit? Or does it come built for .338 if I tell APA what its going on?

Re: 700P MLR .338LM

Next question.

AICS 2.0?

or

KRG Whiskey 3 (once its available)?

Thoughts?

Pros/Cons?

I know people suggest trying the AI/AICS stock first. Trying to get a chance at that soon. Anyone here in CO that has one that would meet me to let me fondle it?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the suggestion. A little pricey for me right now.

Anyone have any suggestions or information to my previous suggestions?

Mile High Shooting Supply is in CO.

Re: 700P MLR .338LM

If you want a chassis, buy the AICS and call it good. It's battle proven, has lots of accessories, and you can get it now.

Re: 700P MLR .338LM

If you can find someone local to you so you can hold an AICS, do it. It's tough to say if you'll like it or not. Generally speaking, people either love them or hate them. Personally I love mine.

Re: 700P MLR .338LM

I guess I missed the part that you'd already bought it. I apologize. Maybe someone else who is looking for one will come across this. Congrats by the way. I'm sure you wont have any problem enjoying that rifle.

I am going to look into it, and find one to get behind. It also has the advantage of being a bit cheaper.

Thanks. That is the plan as of right now.

For the simple fact that I teach a lot of people to shoot, I am thinking the Whiskey Three will be more useful when other people are getting behind it.

Anyone know about the Fat Bastard? Do I have to open the bore of the brake up? Or just time it? (I have a lathe, just curious.)

No need to apologize.

I appreciate the suggestion. Hopefully someone on here will pick that up. That's actually a pretty darn good deal.

Just getting into the Lapua game for right now.

Awesome.

I live about 5 minutes from them. I will have to stop by and do some fondling.

Thanks.

Need a long action to test fit that model of the W-3? Lol.

Re: 700P MLR .338LM

Alright,

Scope base time.

Near Manufacturing or Nightforce?

Or 3rd option that I am not thinking of?

Re: 700P MLR .338LM

Can't go wrong with a mcree precision chassis..they are totally modular and you can order to your specs. I like them better than the aics chassis.

Re: 700P MLR .338LM

man i had my 338 in a AI chassis and i loved it but it felt cumbersome when hunting so i traded it for a manners t4. idk abt the fat bastard i put a jp brake on mine after opening it up for the 338 bullet. the jp does wonders. if you go with a 40 moa base make sure to get a optic with alot of internal adjustment, a vortex pst 6-24 didnt have enough adjustment to zero at 100yds. btw i paid 1650 a year ago for my rem 338.
