Everytime I spray this color it always comes out ruff. The other colors I spray come out smooth. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,

Re: Mil Spec OD Cerakote

It seems the greens are like that. For the thermal cure stuff I run a .8 tip and open it 1.5 turns out. I spray at 18 psi with 50 psi on the gun. Too little paint or too much air tends to produce dry spray and I think thats the issue with the greens.

Try to get that wet look as your spraying and it lays down pretty good.

Re: Mil Spec OD Cerakote

I just sprayed Mil Spec OD about a week ago and it came out smooth and clean. I run with 35 PSI @ the gun, with a .8 tip, and paint about 4-6 inches away from the part. You want that wet but not runny look. Ill post some pictures here in a little while.

I am running the LPH-80 as well.

Re: Mil Spec OD Cerakote

Im running an iwata lph80 .8 tip, parts are at room temp.

Im running a regulator at the gun, with it triggered PSI is 15. William are you running 50 PSI on a regulator at the gun?

Looks good deadly

50 psi leaving the compressor, 18 psi into the gun, regulator, gauge and dryer at the gun and compressor.

Re: Mil Spec OD Cerakote

I had that problem when I was spraying black, I changed a couple things and now i feel like a semi-pro cerakote applicator

1) narrow the fan - too wide causes dry spray

2) dont be affraid to get the spray gun close(4 inches or so). I started too far away - dry sprayed like crazy. It takes a LOT to get this stuff to run.

3) Turn the pressure down. I ran the gun at 45 PSI - dry sprayed like a bitch. When I squeeze the trigger I'm running 35 PSI and it comes out real nice.

Pretty much after cerakoting 4 guns I got all the flaws worked out in my method and the results are impressive.

+2 on a good gun, so much nicer to spray. My father in law owned a body shop for 40+ years. He ruined me....
