Limited edition ELCAN SpecterDRs in Flat Dark Earth (FDE) in 1x/4x configuration.

We will be receiving a limited supply of these and they will most likely not be available again for commercial retail.

It is available in the following configurations:

DFOV14-T1 - ELCAN SpecterDR, 1x/4x, 5.56mm, FDE, CX5395 reticle
DFOV14-T2 - ELCAN SpecterDR, 1x/4x, 7.62mm, FDE, CX5396 reticle

Retail price: $2,075.00
We anticipate availability in approximately 45-60 days.

These sights are NOT SU-230s and as such can be sold commercially within US without the military only restriction.

They will be available for presale on our site momentarily.

This picture is a representation only. The actual units may be slightly different to one extent or another. I do not have one yet to confirm, but I believe it the picture will be very close to what we will have available.

Re: **Limited Edition* ELCAN SpecterDRs in FDE

What does the SU230 have that this model does not have

Re: **Limited Edition* ELCAN SpecterDRs in FDE

Probably just the markings and accessories. There are several variants of the SpecterDR 1x/4x; the one in the SWFA image above appears to be the latest (so-called "Gen 3") scope, which is characterized in part by its dark FDE color and rounded contours. Also, the later versions came with a piggyback mount and screws in the box for a Docter red dot -- a great combination sight. The latest serial numbers I've seen are "10-xxxxx", possibly indicating the tenth series of production (with latest design changes), but these "Limited Edition" FDE scopes may be serialized differently and have different accessories.

Re: **Limited Edition* ELCAN SpecterDRs in FDE

The SU-230s have a reticle similar to Trijicon's TA01NSN.

I assume the FDE Specter DRs that SWFA will be getting will have the standard/civilian reticle.

Standard reticle:

SU-230 reticle/ military reticle:

The latest Gen 3 Specter DR SU-230 I've seen has a "15" serial number, such as "15-xxxxx HD"
Not sure what the "HD" means

Re: **Limited Edition* ELCAN SpecterDRs in FDE

I read somewhere that the latest SU-230s had the civilian reticle, but that may be incorrect if you've seen a scope from the 15 series with the older reticle. The reticle markings from "7" to "10" are for a machine gun, so I wonder why the civilian version has any at all? You'd think there might be some sensitivity about this part of the reticle. I have no clue about what "HD" means either.

These are great scopes and SWFA should sell out easily.

PS Did the 15-series scope have the adjustable ARMS levers? I understand the originals can be replaced with the newer adjustable ones and perhaps the new SpecterDRs have them.

PPS It was pointed out to me today that the SOCOM units do not have the 7.62 reticle, so these new FDE scopes are not the same at the SU-230s without the markings.

Re: **Limited Edition* ELCAN SpecterDRs in FDE

...about time they released a 7.62 reticle in a FDE housing, nicely done

Can we can get the newest release ARMS levers instead of these "legacy" levers? why are they still using these??

Are they SOCOM SpecterDRs?

Yes. One is mounted on a M240L MG, the other is a spare.

Re: **Limited Edition* ELCAN SpecterDRs in FDE

I've seen a very few socom DR 762s on SCAR 17s, but mostly I see is the black 1.5-6 DR without the civi reticle.

There are some FDE socom 1-4x DRs out there that's marked 7.62, but have the 5.56 reticle

Re: **Limited Edition* ELCAN SpecterDRs in FDE

At this point, my guess is that the new FDE scopes will be the civvy version in a FDE finish -- just a guess.

I was told by a dealer that the SOCOM 1x/4x couldn't withstand the recoil of a 308 (he said the windage mechanism was the limiting part), yet the reticle has fiducials for a MG and you point out actual use on a M240L MG.

On a side note, a M240 is heavy and the recoil is more like pushing rather than kicking.
But I bet the 1-4 Specter DR could handle a .308 rifle.
