Anyone with trigger time on the new Barrett MRAD?

I've been lusting for one of the 338 Lapua Barrett MRADs ever since I saw the first press release. Tried my Google Fu and my search Fu and can't find anything comparing it to the AIAW and SAKO TRG42. Has anyone here actually had a chance to put some trigger time in on one, either with the original fluted barrel or the replacement heavy barrel? Has anyone chronoed loads to see if there is much velocety drop with the 24.5" barrel on the MRAD compared to the Barrett 98B 27" barrel or the AI or TRG? Anyone shot along side an AI or a TRG or shot all 3 of them? I'd like to hear about accuracy, consistancy, recoil comparisons between the various guns before I lay out the $ on an MRAD.

type this into google and then add key words after it to find every thread on sniperhide that contains such words:

Re: Anyone with trigger time on the new Barrett MRAD?

Thanks for the link! I don't know why it didn't show up when I did a search. I was told that Barrett has replaced the barrels on all rifles produced up to this point, with a heavy non-fluted barrel due to some type of problem with the originals, but I don't know why, especially if the original barrels were shooting groups like that. I don't know if they will be going back to a medium weight fluted barrel down the road or not, and wondered about the barrel being 2 1/2" shorter than the one on the 98B as well as the AI and Sako guns.

The impression in the video is that the rifle doesn't kick as hard as some others in 338LM do, anyone have an observaion there? I love my AI rifles, but this Barrett just gives me a chubby.....

It kicks like every other 338lm out there.

I just dont understand why more people dont have these. They look like a good setup and a smart design but have never really cought on? Also wonder how hard rebarrel would be and could anybody beside barrett do the work.

It would probably help sales if they released the switch barrel kits for it.

Just got MRAD today. I have the non fluted barrel -- it is a beautiful system. I am going to try to take it out to the range tomorrow.

Range Report... this weapon system rocks .. .really it rocks all the stuff on the table right off the table. Everyone one around me thought I had a .50. the jury is still out on accuracy as I am still setting up the cheek and the pull. I am positive that all the issues encountered were caused by me. Still trying to employ the basics and getting my body position just right-- there is a bunch more kick

I have to say that it is a smooth system, the bolt was like glass. I know that I spent some coin but if asked at this point if I would do it again ... I would say yes. Even if my shoulder is about to fall off.
