Rifle Scopes Leupold mark 4 reticle problem

We have several Leupold mark 4 4.5-14 illuminated tmr reticle scopes. The complaint is that at times the reticle appears as if its two small lines running parallel instead of a thick black line. Others have described it as being blurry. The problem appears to be intermittent. I sent one scope back to Leupold for repair. They stated nothing was found broken, however the person using that scope stated it was good for about 4 months then went back to having the same problem.

Any thoughts

Re: Leupold mark 4 reticle problem

To clarify, the issue is with the etched reticle when not illuminated? That seems like a parallax/focus issue. So, Leupold stated they didn't do anything to it but appeared to be fixed upon return? Have you been able to confirm the issue?

+1 on the Parallax/focas. If this scope it a side parallax model then there is two things you can check. You have a focas on the eye piece of the scope, this focuses the reticle to your eye. Focas this to the users eye so that when they focas their eye on the target the reticle doesn't fade out or get blurry. Then you use the side parallax to bring the targets into focas. This is a process that should be done every time you get behind the gun. Try this and see if it fixes the problem.
