I was gonna buy the stag arms 3g for hunting and some 3 gun but I think I can build my own for just a little more and make it over a pound or so lighter. However, I have never built an AR15 so I would like some advice as to if I have all the parts needed and if the choices will go well together. Any info is greatly appreciated.
Here is my list of things:
- Noveske 18" lightweight hunter upper
- Noveske 5.56 gen II lower
- Geissele super 3 gun trigger
- Magpul CRT stock milspec kit
- Magpul MIAD modual grip
- Titan Compensator
- JP lower parts kit (minus trigger)
- Bullet button (cause CA sucks)

Re: AR15 NOOB build

Already you're almost at the cost of the Stag complete rifle with just the Noveske upper. I just wanted to point that out real quick.

If you want to save money upfront, order the upper and lower from Stag instead of the complete rifle, and all you have to do is pin them together and you save around $400 on most ARs.

I would definitely get a matched upper and lower like you have listed. They will together better than a Franken-AR off the bat with no drilling or anything. Everything looks good, though.

Re: AR15 NOOB build

PRS,

I'm running a Stag 3g upper and really like it. I also run a titan and a Geisele 3g trigger. I picked up the upper for 699 shipped. Accuracy is good, but I am still working on fine tuning. I am shooting around 1.25 - 2 moa with bulk ammo in the 55-62 grain variety at 100 yards. I shot some 75 grain Hornaday Steel Match (1 moa), and it really liked that. I shot some Federal Match 69 grain (.80 moa) as well, and it loved that. My next attempt is at some Fiocch exacta match in the 69 and 77 grain varieties I picked up cheap. I'll be shooting that this week.

I know the 3Gs are out there so if you could handle one, I would recommend that. The Samson fore end is light and has a great feel. I don't think you would be disappointed. It is no Noveske, but it feels great and shoots good.

Also, I actually liked the Stag Comp that came on the upper. It is sitting in my safe, but not because it did not work well. If you end up going with the Stag, I suggest trying the comp before you pick up the Titan.

If you have any questions about the 3G shoot me a PM and I'll try to answer them.

Blessings,

BC
