Ive been searching around this morning but couldnt track down a thread. I'm looking for the thread that discussed fitment of Alpha Type 2 Mags.

Specifically Im having an issue with the 308 Type 2 mags and Badger M5 bottom on a Rem700SA.

In a loaded mag, 3-10 rds, the first round feeds fine. Any followup round slides under the feed ramp of the receiver.

I've been bending the lips on the mags but to no avail. Ive also stretched the mag spring. I'm not totally against modifying the feed ramp on the receiver, but I'd prefer to avoid it.

Anyone have a link to this thread? Or any ideas?

Thanks,
AP

Re: Alpha Mag Type 2 fitment

I saw it the other day but like you I can't find it either. I purchased two of them and had a similar issue when using them in my badger dbm also. AI mags work great but the alpha mags would not feed any of the rounds. I worked on the feed lips to get it to feed the first round but when I put 9 or 10 rounds in it now they either want to pop out or it tries to feed 2 of them at one time. I think I'm done with alpha.

Re: Alpha Mag Type 2 fitment

You are done with alpha mags because you ordered the ones that are too long for an unmodified action giving the rounds room to move forward under the feedramp

This. The type 2 is designed to be used on actions that can feed from them. If you want to use them, you need to modify the feed ramp. If you don't want to reshape the ramp, get the type 1 mags.

Re: Alpha Mag Type 2 fitment

Getting back on topic....anyone have pics of their mod'd feed ramp like the thread I spoke of had?

Re: Alpha Mag Type 2 fitment

I'm sry I failed to mention I ordered the type 1 not the type 2. So I have 2 type 1 mags that didn't work properly when I got them in and after the modification to the feed lips they still don't work properly. It's just not worth it to me. Plus the customer service is sub par.

Re: Alpha Mag Type 2 fitment

I had similar issues with 3 out of 4 Type 2 Alpha Mags I ordered too the 4th one worked great. It was for my Manner T4A Stock with the Badger Mini Chasis. 3 of the Magazines would not if click in place. After talking to Alpha Mag on the phone they told me to grind off just a big of the Lip where it clicks into the Mag Catch. One of the mags worked and the other 2 ended up being returned. I think the alpha mag works on most of the bottom metals but the Badger is suppose to be a very tight fit. I'd say if AI works then I'd rather go with the more reliable setup with the AI. After all the AI has been around much longer and battle proven as well. Not that Alpha mags are bad quality, but I'd just rather have something that works right from the beginning. You can alway just return it and get AIs instead.

Re: Alpha Mag Type 2 fitment

if you havent made any mods to them, you can sell them here easily. they sell so fast its silly.

Re: Alpha Mag Type 2 fitment

Yes You can sell them here or even get a full refund from Alpha Mag. Their customer service is Top Notch. They gave me a full refund even after I tried to modify the mags to fit. No questions asked. Either way I think you'll be fine. Good Luck!

Re: Alpha Mag Type 2 fitment

I have the same problem with my Alpha mags and the McCree chassis. I have the type 1. I bent the feed lips slightly and it fixed the problem in one mag, but not the other. While I really like the size of these mags, I decided to just stick with the AICS mags. Alpha industries was very helpful on the phone and offered to refund or replace the mags. I thought their CS was great.

Now off on a side note . . . . . why the hell do people on this site use the word "fitment" all the time? THe word is "FIT". Fit of Alpha mags. Why does everyone say fitment? Fitments are in kitchens, bathrooms, and on ships. WTF?

I'm going to start saying "fititude". At least it isn't already a word.
