Looking for loads for 110 & 115 grain bullets for hunting. I was thinking of trying imr 7828.

Re: 257 weatherby

i was very interested in getting .257 wby mag but circumstances changed things.

but i heard lots of people like reloader 25

and check out reloaders nest website they will have some load data for ya

Re: 257 weatherby

Well i have done my fair share of load development with the 257 weatherby and have found a few things. In the 4 firearms i have now worked up loads for (all vanguards series 1&2) the following things were consistent:
1. All did not like any bullets less than 110gr's no matter what powder or seating depth or bullet manufacture.
2. With the 115gr bullets and up IMR 7828 gave best velocity and accuracy.
3. With 110gr Reloader 25 gave best results (reloader 25 has shown to be very temperature sensitive as my test have shown appx. 97 fps increase with a 30 degree temp increase.
4. While it is not even possible to reach the end of the "free bore" with any of the lighter bullets in a factory weatherby rifle, all my loads in all rifles do MUCH better when seated deeply, actually to about factory lenght or a little longer.
5. Heat was a very big issue with getting a good three round group as the barrel heated very quickley and usually a wait of 30 minutes inbetween groups was required to give true results.
