I am looking for help 260 load. The rifle is a JP LRP 260 with a 22 inch barrel. It shoots 109's like crazy but want to try 123 SMK or Lapuas. Have also looked at 130gr Bergers. Would like to get a velocity of around 2850 to 2900. Thanks for any help.

Re: Suggested 260 loads

Sorry about that. It is 1 in 8 twist. I have tried the factory Corbon 123 and 139 Lapua loads but had issues with signs of over pressure i.e.. primers backing out etc.

Re: Suggested 260 loads

45-46gr H4350, or 44-44.5gr RL17 should get you the velocities you want with 123s.

Personally, my 120/123 load de'jour is 39.3gr Varget. It produces slower velocities than either of the above powders but is stupidly accurate and very easy to load for.

What I mean by that is it bugholes in two rifles (22" 9 twist Remington barrel, 26" 8 twist Criterion), two different bullets (120 Nosler BT and 123gr A-Max), three different types of brass (RP, Lapua, Nosler), and two different types of primer (CCI-200 & WLR).

With 123s I get 2936fps from the 26" 8 twist barrel, while with 120s I get 2800fps from the 22" 9 twist barrel. Of course these are bolt guns...your gas gun will likely be different.

BU's experience close to mine I can't get the velocity before pressure shuts me down. My accuracy very good but not steller in SakoTRG 260, H4350 for me with the 123.

Re: Suggested 260 loads

I worked up some loads this last week to try out today. I shot loads with Varget, 4064, and 4350. The Varget loads performed the best out of the three for accuracy but I did not chrono them. The best load was the 120g AMAX with 38g Varget. These were factory Remington brass being fireformed in my AI chamber.

I did have one load using 120 Nosler BT and 42g H4350 that was very close to the AMAX load.
