Im building this thread to help the new shooters coming into rifle shooting so that maybe we can help them decide which scope to buy and which retical to settle with. for example, i shoot mostly f-class tr but had shot with un known distance targets before.

here is my us optics sn3 3.8-22x44 moa-moa scope

DSCF0392.jpg

i chose this scope for 2 reasons:
1/ i wanted a rifle scope that if i accidently dropped my rifle while in or out of its case i would not have to worry about loosing my zero.

2/ i wanted a retical that was thin enough at high power that would not get in the way of the target but have 1 moa marks to help me put my shots center of target without to much guessing.

here is my retical at 1000 yards. this is the cmg moa.

im hoping this catches on and the rest of you add on to this to help the new shooters out.

Re: your scope and why you bought it.

2- i need to range while i range

Re: your scope and why you bought it.

I got a SWFA SS 5-20.

Reasons for buying:

1. 10 mils per turn
2. ffp
3. Most importantly, because Lowlight likes them

Re: your scope and why you bought it.

Viper PST 4-16x50, SFP- purchased because it had all of the features I needed (mil/mil, good glass, mag. range and great reticle) and a few I wanted (ZS/ ill. Reticle). I chose SFP because it is on my hunting rifle and isn't used for tactical matches. The glass is good enough to make consistent hits beyond 800 on 12" plates, so it works for my usage. The warranty was also a major selling point.

Sightron SIII LRMD 6-24x50- purchased due to great reviews on their glass and repeatable turrets. This is also SFP and is used on my F/TR rifle. Although not the thinnest reticle or the absolute best glass (US optics/S&B/ Zeiss Hensoldt), it has served me well in F class. Having said that, I still feel the optical clarity isn't too far off from my fathers NF NXS, but it doesn't have the robustness or features of a NF.

I would recommend either without question, because for the money, few scopes can compare to their features other than bushnell or the weaver tactical series.

Wow... The first ever look inside an actual Counter Sniper Military Contract Runover Scope. These should sell like hotcakes.

my 5-25x58 USO t-pal

my 3.2-17 t-pal(Schmidt is long gone, the sass now wears a 1.8-10x37 tpal)

my new(to me) gap with a 3.2-17 tpal, bottom rifle is something I'm working on for my daughter(also a gap in 223AI). That will also have a 17x t-pal

DSC_0173.jpg

My last Fn built by a local smith wearing a 3.2-17 tpal

this guy rocked a ST10(when on a budget, that would be my first pick!) But Josh needed it more than me so I sold it, replaced it with a 1.8-10. Which is now being replaced with a 1.5-6 in fde

after getting this optic, I knew I wanted one on this rifle

I have others but no pictures. BTW.......Hi, my name is Julio and I love USO scopes, if you're ever in the market for one. Shoot me a pm and I'll do my best to help you out

. I now only use USO because I can order what ever I want. You get a scope that's built like a tank by Americans. I use bunch of different options on my scopes but I do it for my locals. But my favorite would be a 3.2-17 with a gap reticle(next would be a genII XR)

Re: your scope and why you bought it.

I like Nightforce scopes. I buy them because they are one of the top tier scopes at a reasonable price. It's the best combo of high quality, rugged and priced fair. I hunt and shoot tactical long range shooting. I think you get into diminishing returns on your money after you get into $2,400 plus. I think you spend a lot and MIGHT, get some features that don't bring enough value for ME. NO NOCKS on anyone buying $3,500 scopes. I think many would agree with me, however those buyers want what they want. God bless America.

My lower tier selection is BUSHNELL. I buy these for the same reason when I want to save a few pennies. I like function- quality, rugged at a fair price. Their new top end scopes are quite nice.

Holy shit man, you better camo that optic before you are made in your "cheaper then dirt" ghillie suit.

Re: your scope and why you bought it.

Nightforce NXS 8-32x56 1/8th MOA. It was the best compromise in magnification and elevation adjustment for F/TR and 308. Hefty price, but the reputation stand for itself.

Re: your scope and why you bought it.

Nope it's from Gunsmoke
