Rifle Scopes The MOA Range Estimate Card (Minute Master)

After seeing the how much the 'Mil' guys loved there Mil-dot Master i figured why not do a 'Moa Master'. So here it is.

When we practice for long range hunting we like to drive into the woods and select a rock at random and see if we can hit it cold bore. We range, compensate, then fire. We usually laser the target and use our MOA reticles to pick out a target the size of vitals. This chart will make it much easier. I prefer MOA ranging, now it will be easier at competitions to quickly MOA range.

I did some of it in 1/8moa increments for real fine ranging. The chart goes from a 6-24" target. Sorry the text didnt turn out. Far left vertical column is size of target in MOA as it appears in the scope. Top column from left to right is size of target in inches. Where these two intersect is the distance to the target in yards. In this example, the red circle, you see an 8" target is taking up 1 MOA in your scope, the two lines intersect at 764yds. Distance to the target is 764yds. Easy huh?

This card is easy to read and takes up about as much room as my range card.

Nice work! You should drop that into a PDF file and attach it to this thread. All of my scopes are MOA/MOA and it would be nice to have a quick and easy range verification besides my LRF.

Its late for me but if guys are interested I will try to attach it to a pdf tomorrow so everyone can have it free.

Re: The MOA Range Estimate Card (Minute Master)

Or you could just use the right side of the mildot master which also does MOA

Nice to have a card like that though for quick reference. I have one for my mil scope.

Re: The MOA Range Estimate Card (Minute Master)

Nice work.

Instead of having the range at the intersections you could have the comeups instead, then you'd just look at the card and dial the scope instead of then having to look at your dope card.

Or, you could have the range and the dope under it if you wanted to see what the range is too.

That's a good idea. My shooting teammate and I use different calibers so right now for our type of shooting the range in yards is a little easier. For practicing LR hunting and picking out a vitals size rock all you have to do is laze it, go to the moa it takes up, and scroll over till you hit the yards it lazed at, at the top of the column it will tell you how big it is in inches.

Re: The MOA Range Estimate Card (Minute Master)

Nice card! I'll have to make one myself.

I was also going to say that I use the Mil-Dot Master with my MOA reticles (NP-R1 and NP-R2).

Re: The MOA Range Estimate Card (Minute Master)

I get off work at 330pm and am home by 4. I will post a pdf on the website in my signature. You can click on the link, visit the site, and download the pdf (free of course).

Also this is true MOA (inchesx95.5/moa)

Will also be doing a IPHY version soon.

After Robs post i went over to my buddies house and checked out the mildot master. I am embarrassed to admit i think its a little better. It was hard to imagine what Rob was talking about without having one in front of me.

In the Right hand column of the Mildot Master the center is inches, simply slide the inches (target size) to where they meet up with how many MOA the target is taking up in the scope (left hand side). When you look at the far left column it tells you what the range is in yards. All well. Mine isn't cluttered with all that mil stuff

. I feel like mine is a little more specific to my use anyway, but Rob is right, you can do the same thing with the mildot master and it gives you target size from 2"-100".

I almost got a beer out of the deal!

Sorry forgot to mention, i think you need to have Microsoft Excel to open the Minute Master at Shoot-farther.com. Sorry, i dont know how to do it any other way. I tried to scan it but it didnt turn out right.

Re: The MOA Range Estimate Card (Minute Master)

You're a good man Jesse. I'm gonna laminate a bunch of these and drop em in each of my cheek pads.

Thx again!

Re: The MOA Range Estimate Card (Minute Master)

Update

Thanks to Whiskey Tango a pdf version will be available at shoot-farther.com by the end of the day. So if you don't have Microsoft Excel it will still be available to you.

Re: The MOA Range Estimate Card (Minute Master)

Mulehunter
Hope you don't mind I redone this in excel format so it can be edited for individual needs. Anyone that wants the file PM me your email address

Not being one to offer complaint without solution, here's my tweaked version of "MOA Master"

I'm experiencing the same. When I try to create an account I'm being asked for my paypal information.

Re: The MOA Range Estimate Card (Minute Master)

just make your own....i have..

run MOA reading down column "A"
run known target size across row "A"
make your formula for cell A2/B2 be: =SUM(B1*95.5)/$A2
now just continue to populate off of that for the applicable cells

it's very easy, and mine is both front and back...with 1-20" target size on the front and 21-40" on the reverse. I have up to 10moa on each size...and I have my low cutoff at 96yds and my high cut off at 999yds. I also laminated it on a heavy weight, autoclavable, paper....so if I happen to tear the lamination, the paper will still hold up to any wet conditions.

Re: The MOA Range Estimate Card (Minute Master)

Or as I said over 2 years ago you can just use the Mildot Master and use the right side of it which lets you use it in MOA.

Re: The MOA Range Estimate Card (Minute Master)

LOL
talk about reinventing the wheel

+1 Rob
