A friend of mine just started hydro-dipping with great success. I am the most indecisive person so input is much needed.

I have an armalite ar-30 I want to get dipped but can't decide if I want a camo pattern or something else.

Also want to dip my mcree precision 308 tactical.

I really like digital camo but don't want them to be the same. Both rifles are range first duty and will see limited field use. What patterns would you guys use?

Toad a Flage looks cool and isnt real common.

Re: what hydo-dip patterns?

I've been working on my own version of the Toad-a-flage for a couple years now. Lot less "busy" but I still like how that looks.
Toad-a-flage looks pretty dark for a camo design, but with limited field use, it would be pretty bad ass on the firing line.

(sure beats that Gila Monster DTA SRS lol)

I'm not caught up on military tech. But I thought it replaced Digital?

This is bad ass. Could you please elaborate on the details of the build?

TIA

Re: what hydo-dip patterns?

For those of you with experience with hydro-dipping can you answer a couple questions I've always had?

1. Is it durable? It's basically a thin film covering the rifle so is it prone to nicking or peeling etc?

2. Also does it matter what color the orignial stock is underneath? Do the patterns look different if the stock is tan vs black vs some camo pattern underneath?

Thanks in advance for you help.

Its durable..it cures very hard. How durable depends on the clear that its sealed with (Automotive vs duracoat vs....).

Thanks in advance for you help. </div></div>

Doesnt matter the original color as the dipper will base coat. Yes different. base colors change the look of the films.

Shaffers hydrographics is the business my friend is starting up. He is still in the process of obtaining his business license so legally he can not give out his details at this this time. Also the ATF claims he cannot dip over the serial number of any gun without his FFL unless the owner is present. He is now in the process of obtaining his FFL.

When the state finally comes through and grants his license I will post up his info. He may even become a sponsor. Check him out on FB. Shaffers

After he(your friend) has all his equipment and licenses set up, would he be able to do any off the wall patterns, I'm thinking snow leopard on a set of AI skins just as a fun swap for every now and then. I would check out facebook but I'd rather look at shit on here so I never set up a facebook and probably won't for a long time.

He has been doing a lot of neat and different stuff lately. If they make it in a film pattern he can do it. Different base colors really make a difference too. He is very artistic and loves a challenge. All or nothing kinda guy. He started hydro dipping as a hobby and has since bought an $11,000 dip tank and is building a bigger garage.

ATACS-FG will be my next rifle. It is a very good looking camo and matches my area better then the original.

Re: what hydo-dip patterns?

I saw some pictures on here a few weeks ago of a pair of rifles dipped in desert multi-cam that was really sharp. I'll see if I can find the thread . . .
