trying to figure this out....

I have been looking at getting an AR in a larger caliber than 5.56 and have a little bit of money saved up, but I do have an extremely nice (in my eyes) set up right now in 5.56 that i have been thinking of selling in order to help fund another rifle. the main thing is, I don't know what I have is worth at second-hand value. so I figure I will ask here. looking to try and price this as a package deal, I was thinking $3000.00 but didn't really know for sure. with everything i have into the gun I have put in about $4000.00, but one thing i have learned about firearms, and the economy you don't get back what you put into them.

This is my rifle: Novseske 14.5 light carbine lo-pro (with Noveske marked Troy BUIS)with AAC SPR/M4 FH pinned to it (done by adco), with approx 2k down the pipe. Noveske factory 2nd lower, with stag arms lpk, Magpul UBR, Magpul MIAD grip, Magpul AFG Gen 2, EOTech 557, with 3x FTS magnifier.

Re: trying to figure this out....

Personally I would not sell it if it is as you say. 556 is a good rifle to have for more reasons than I can list here. I would just save some more for the ar10 or sell any copies of firearms that you have. Good quality keeps its value better than you think. Just look in the for sale sections here and in other sites.

Re: trying to figure this out....

Look at what people are asking for similar setups in the for sale section. You can go back a way too to find out what people are asking. Usually, people believe that their gear is worth far more than it actually is, and they get upset when people tell them that they should expect 70% of what they thought it was worth.

Also consider what it might be worth in trade. Some people want to trade by giving you wholesale value for your item, while expecting to get retail value for their item. I figure that unless it is at a gun shop, when I trade, we do wholesale/wholesale, or retail/retail value. A shop owner is entitled to a fair profit..that is why they have a shop.

I seriously doubt that you will get someone to give you a firm dollar value on this thread. It is very difficult to evaluate something and give a price from photos. However, if you said you want "X" for it, then someone is free to say "I'll take it", or to counter offer.

Re: trying to figure this out....

That's a nice rig. I just built an LR .308 and put about 3k in it not including glass. If I didn't handload my own ammo for it it would be very cost preventative for me to shoot it as much as I have so far. .308 is way more than .223, I'm sure you know. Just saying if you do this the factory ammo cost for large rifle is substantial, obviously ongoing. That's a very nice rig you got there!!!!

Edit: Oh but your talking about just a larger caliber not necessarily larger platform like .308. Sorry, don't mind me

Re: trying to figure this out....

larger caliber, yes, and,it is quite possible a larger platform too. I can reload for a .308 or whatever it is that i end up getting, I'm kinda running parrallel to this thread: http://snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3366202#Post3366202 but i skipped steps 1-7 i did my homework first, and got what i wanted. now im somewhat at 8 and kind of on the fence on whether i want an AR10 platform, if i want to keep with the ar15 platform
