First precision rifle & first outing (part 1)

Gents,

First time ever driving my bolt gun, this is my first ever precision rifle. Please critique my target and let me know if they are satisfactory for a beginner? Thanks for any comments, suggestions, and advice.

Not bad. Get you some better ammo and your groups should shrink. I use Southwest Ammunition 175gr pills. Their stuff shoots great in my rifle.

Nice rifle!!! Man, you almost had that coin! Don't give up you are close. Anyways, better ammo would definitely make a difference.

Ditch the South African stuff. My ruger shoots better than this if i feed it the proper stuff. AIAE is an incredible rifle but using ex-mil ball ammo isn't doing it justice.

Equate this setup to a Porsche 911, except you're running re-treads on it.

Good shooting, Nice lookin rig. Get a few boxes of diff name brand ammo (Federal Gold Medal Match, Hornady Match, Black Hills, ect) and see what you rifle likes the best before stocking up on one brand. Not sure if you surplus ammo is corrosive but you may want to give the ol barrel a good cleaning just in case

Nice shooting with military ammo.Start reloading and it will shoot even better

Nothing is going to shoot that ammo any better, I have shot over 8,000 rds of it in many semi auto like FAL, G3, M1A and it is 2 min ammo at best, quit wearing out that awesome barrel with crap ammo, feed it good stuff and your groups will shrink a lot/

Thanks guys - yeah, the ammo is definitely old military surplus, minute of man accuracy. I wanted to just get a rough sight in to dial in my glass. My next range trip will be some good match ammo to see what this bad boy will do...me on the other hand

but, it gives me an opportunity to work on my skills - practice, practice, practice.
