Ok. So I purchased an FNAR, and while this thing shoots awesome, it is the most uncomfortable and ugliest of them all. So why not take matters in my own hands. Below is what I've done so far. It's almost done, aside from some small touches and paint.

This is it. It feels great, looks a lot better, and it added just the right amount of weight to evenly distribute it.

Re: FNAR Much Needed Modification

I agree the original FNAR is FUGLY.
It is the reason I never bought one.
Wasn't there a McMillan FNAR ?
I remember seeing something like that at the NRA Convention in 2011 in Pittsburgh.

You're correct on the Mcmillian, but as far as I know it isn't out yet. So I got tired of waiting and built mine.

A plus to mine is I can change grips and stocks if I wanted to. It doesn't look as good as the McMillian, but it looks a lot better than the orginal.

Re: FNAR Much Needed Modification

Yeah, the FNAR is definitely one of those ban era rifles. Just think, had that shit law continued they'd all look like that.

I think they'd look nicest with some wood though, and a traditional stock. Just my opinion though.

Here is a pic of what it would of looked like for anyone wondering.

Snyper....can't tell from your pics what you used. Aluminum??
how is it secured? Epoxy or what? looks great. Would you brief us on what you did?

Fnar's are very underrated. Where else can you get a piston driven rifle for $950 that shoots 1/2moa right out of the box? Tune the trigger and have the action smoothed and it will shoot sub 1/2 moa.

Re: FNAR Much Needed Modification

Your new stock and grip setup looks good.

It appears to be aluminum. Do you have a mill/lathe? Or did you do that with more normal tools such as dremel, band saw, drill press, and grinder?

Actually it was machined from a block of billet Alu I had left over. I threaded it to accept a factory A2 stock tube, and put a PRS stock on it. That's it. Nothing more than a lot of machining and sizing.

Re: FNAR Much Needed Modification

That looks like a great upgrade maybe you should look at making a few of these up for sale.
