I have a 1940 Mauser K98 in 8mm with 90% matching parts. (Vet bring back)

There is no question that I am adding glass, so save me the lecture, but my dilemma is that for some reason, I only want to include German glass on the rifle (i.e. S&B, Zeiss etc.) I don't know if that is just crazy or what?

I also don't know what I should get. Any help/diagnosis/direction would be great.

P.S. I am really eyeing the S&B 10x42 PMII P3. Really eyeing that for $2000.00.

Re: Am I nuts?

May as well get what you want. My buddy is the same way with his german military guns. A 2K new scope on old gun? Now that might be crazy. Get an old used german scope.

Re: Am I nuts?

For $2K can you get whatever was on similar type rifles during the war? It wont have that nice new glass but it will be correct and its performance will be compatible with the capabilities of the gun.

I see WWII K98 scopes for sale on the CMP and Culvers Shooting Page forums on occasion and I dont recall they go for +$2K.

Re: Am I nuts?

+1 for getting a period correct scope for such a nice rifle.
Realize however it doesn't have to be German. When the Nazi's invaded Europe the pillaged anything, from all conquered, to further their war effort. Who else made glass in that period?
Sounds interesting to me.
