I am looking to buy the Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50. I am wondering if this scope will fufill all my needs. I am 19 and new to long range shooting and I want to get the right scope. I am going to be using this scope to hunt in wisconsin as well as range shooting up to 300 yards for now. I'm going to be putting this scope on an M40T4 from Tactical Rifles down in Florida. I am wondering if there is a time period when scopes go on sale or something. Everywhere I look the scope costs 700, I would like to pay a little less. Thanks for the help guys.

Good scope will do everything you ask of it and more. That scope is extremely popular, you will have trouble getting it cheaper than that.

I run one mil/mil FFP and it does everything I have ever needed it to do. It will be money well spent, in my opinion.

We would all like to spend a little less, but if you want a good scope, expect to pay for it. I have a 4-16X50 and love it, you will be hard pressed to out grow it.

If you are not specifically looking for the FFP model you may be able to find one slightly under the $700 mark, but only slightly from what I have seen the go for used. IMHO, spending the extra $50 or so for FFP would be a good decision. I just picked up a 4-16 FFP for my hunting rifle, and it was well worth the money. Good luck.

If you are getting a rifle from Tac Rifles, why are you worried about spending a few extra greens on a great scope?? Save a few more pennies, and get what you really want.
Any of the Vortex PST scopes are top notch in my opinion!!

Great scope though, I really like mine, I use the FFP version.

I have the FFP 4-16 mil/mil and I love it.
My ONLY complaint is the thickness of the crosshairs on the FFP model but I've gotten used to it. I wish Vortex would've stepped the very center down a bit like a duplex does.
On the FFP it's .06 mil thick, while on the SFP it's .03 mil thick.

boiler1 beat me to it. its a transferable unconditional lifetime warranty. buy it on a for sale. match it with good rings. i like my FFP. and easily hit at 300
