I am looking at trying out a a new load for my 6.5 Creedmoor. I have heard good things about 8208 XBR powder. I was curious to see if anyone is using this powder in their Creedmoor loads. I would also appreciate any load and performance data you guys can offer. I'm trying to push my 140s a little faster with less powder. My current load data is below. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

26 in Barrel
IMR 4350 42.5gr
140 Amax
CCI BR2 Primers
2830 fps

While I don't load for the 6.5 Creedmoor, I do load 260 Remington in a hunting rifle. The 260 and the 6.5 Creedmoor like the slower powders.

I do use 8208XBR for my 308 Win. and .223 Remington and get great accuracy with it. I believe you'll find if you want top velocities in your Creedmoor, 8208 is a little too fast.

You can take a look at Hodgdon's reloading site. They have 6.5 Creedmoor data.

8208 will work, but velocities will be 100+ FPS slower.

Mine really struggles with faster powders. Varget works, but not well. Really, H4350 is probably where it is at with the Creedmoor.

I've been hammering away with the 6.5CM for three years or so now. I use RL17 with the 142 SMK and H4350 with the Berger 130 VLD. Velocities are better than factory loads and accuracy is great. I agree with the other posts that 8208 is just too fast to be the best choice.

Re: IMR 8208 XBR 6.5 Creedmoor?

There was a list of powders that work for the 6.5CM, 8208 was not on the list. The different variations of 4350 top that list.

Reading it seems that H4350 is less temp sensitive then some of the other 6.5CM powders.

8208 works for me pushing 142 SMK's. While it may not get you top speeds as the others I would not discount it. I have also been using 100V and getting great results.

I just couldn't get good enough groups with the H4350 after burning through a pound. I will retry after I get some more copper down the tube.
