Reloading press for 338 lapua mag?

I currently do all my precision work on a Rockchucker. This looks like it will be too small for 338. However I see reports of people doing this.

I am interested in the Forster coax press. Is this press also tight for 338?

What presses are recommended for 338?

The Rockchucker will work but you might want to look into something a bit bigger to save some effort. The Redding Big Boss 2 is great and has a ton of leverage for sizing the bigger cases. The primer catcher also works a lot better than most presses.

I have never used the coax press but is a great press and I've never heard any bad reviews.

Rockchucker works great. What am I missing? I've been loading my .338 LM for a year now with it.

The RockChucker Supreme will handle the 338LM and the Lee Classic Cast O Frame, will as well.

I load 338LM on my Dillon 550b and it works fine.

The Redding Big Boss II is another, as well as the Forster CoAx.

Yah mine works great also.

Another vote for the Redding Ultramag.

If you like pinching your fingers and getting blood blisters and swearing when loading get the CoAx.

Re: Reloading press for 338 lapua mag?

My RockChucker chucks up .338 Lapua like gravy...

Re: Reloading press for 338 lapua mag?

For those that say Rockchucker are you using the standard Rockchucker or the supreme? If standard how awkward is it to place the bullet and to get the loaded round out?

If you're somewhat conscious while you're reloading and remove your hand from the top of your case BEFORE trying to resize them it's a much more pleasant reloading experience. Just my 2 cents... Oh and to the OP, I currently use a CoAx press and load 338 LM with it and it works great! However, if you do wind up getting a CoAx (provided you can find one) just a word of advice... Get the traditional shell holder adapter plate rather than the larger set of LS jaws. Even with the larger LS jaws they will leave scuff marks in the extractor groove (with Lapua brass anyway).

I have the supreme, works well as long as the cases are properly lubed..

What about seating long bullets. It really turned me off loading 220 grain bullets for my 300 Win Mag. Having to stuff the front of the bullet up into the seat die to ensure enough clearance to align it to the case was a #1 pain in the arse. Simply not enough clearance ... and you have to hold it there until it starts into the case neck. Pinch city!

I'm not saying the CoAx is an inferior press, it just wasn't designed for the big cases folks shoot today.

Re: Reloading press for 338 lapua mag?

Have started reloading 338LM with the hornady lnl classic press and am having no issues so far.

Re: Reloading press for 338 lapua mag?

Standard rock chucker for depriming and sizing and Wilson dies and an arbor press for neck sizing and bullet seating.

Re: Reloading press for 338 lapua mag?

i use a Lee classic and i have no trouble with loading for the 338 LM for my SRS

Re: Reloading press for 338 lapua mag?

Redding T7 ... however if you are sure you want to full length resize I would go for Redding Ultramag. Otherwise, with my 338LM Lapua brass I simply neck size and that's it.
