Surefire brakes are nice, Badger FTE are good, Cooley brakes is nice but throws dirt and dust everywhere.

There is a Sniper's Hide Google search engine on the right hand side of the screen. Enter "muzzle brake porn" and you will see a thread that was started a few days ago with pictures of some brakes. You can leave off the porn part and find others

I have an RWS on my 300 WM and it does wonders, plus you can't beat the $45.00 price.

+1 for the badger FTE. I have one on my custom 338. Its a bit loud but it reduces a tremendous amount of recoil and it doesnt throw a ton pressure like other breaks. I was shooting next to a guy with an AI build and the residual was unbearable. It felt like i was punched in the face everytime he pulled the trigger.

I have been extremely satisfied with American Precision Arms little bastard brake.
Why....They work better than anything else I have tried to date.
On a 338 based cartridge the Fat bastard is simply AMAZING!!!! It's great to shoot with friends on each side of you!

Badger FTE
- Does not need to be timed
- Can easily be removed for cleaning or if you need to shoot in a comp. that doesn't allow brakes
- Extremely effective recoil reduction; turned my .300 WM into a wuss
- Side blasting, so it doesn't blow up a bunch of dirt
- Not as long as the PTG or APA brakes (i.e., it's very efficient)
- Finally, can't beat the "Front Towards Enemy" engraved on the muzzle

Very light compared to a FTE.
Doesn't need timed either.

10* up and 10* back ports eat up recoil and muzzle rise.
No special barrel profile required like the FTE. Just simple threading.
You can take it off, use a can or thread protector easily.
Brake for the range, can or thread protector while hunting.
Pratically no smithing required if your barrel is already threaded.
When I went to look for a brake, I wanted light, simple, effective and options down the road. I'll be putting a second one on my AI until my can clears.

Why? The brake reduced the recoil on a 338 LM that I built enough so I could spot my own shots at 800 yards and further shooting 300 g off a bipod.

The issue that I'm having is that I am building on a barrel that's over an inch at the muzzle. does anyone have any recommendations for one that can be blended well and can be taken off when I need to slip on my suppressor? I was thinking about the Badger ordnance FTE but I'm concerned that the required profile might be a little too much when compared to my rifle's current taper.

The APA LB is 1.125" I believe, and will blend nicely. It is my favorite brake because:

Looks clean and nice
Vents out the sides only
Vents are angled back which makes sense to me
I just wish the vents were about 150° opposed instead of 180°, that would help with a bit of muzzle rise, and curtail some of the whoosh my partner and I blast each other with.

The little bastard is exactly what I was looking for. It's between that and the cylindrical muscle brake right now, barring any issues with a required contour for the TBAC 30-P1 that I've got on the way.

We compared it on Sendero 300wm, MLR338lm with the TRG, Roedeil and Badger braks. Weight is lighter. Reduction of the recoil is stronger.

The Seekins Precision is available in .95" and 1.25". I don't yet have any personal experience with them yet, but I have on on order. I have heard good things and they look bad-ass.

R&D Prcision mrad becauses its light, works very well, easy install and comes in several diameters to match/or come close to a number of barrel profiles.

I'm partial to Centershot's muscle brake.
I have the JP brake and RWS and they both work as advertised. RWS is lightweight and cheap so that's a plus.

I like the RAD Brake so far. Works well on my Rem SPS Tactical. I just picked up another for my 6.5 Creedmoor build.

My vote is for the OPS R3E2C brake. I have installed them on many builds and am well satisfied with their performance. I have fitted them to many bore diameters from .264 up to .338... The lack of muzzle movement and recoil reduction is impressive.
