So i keep going back in forth between which of these i should get for my Savage 12 F/TR. In the the military I've used the Leupold on the M14A1 and it is a great site but everyone keeps talking about the Nightforce NXS scopes. Im not worried about the price of either but the question is which should i get for 1000+ yrd shots (i.e which will give me the most for my money.)

Thanks For the compliment. It's chambered in 7.62x51 and it's a sub moa shooter. My best group has been 3/4 moa but that's no fault of the rifle.

I bought a NF first, then bought a rifle with a MK4, sold it, now I have 4 NXS's So I say NF. The luppy was a good scope but I like moa and didnt seem quite as good as the NF. If I was stuck with it it wouldn't be a problem. But back to the question, Nightforce easy for me. Good luck

I have a Leuopold on my issued bolt gun. And I'm about to put NF on my personal 338LP. I've only shot the work rifle, a 700 LTR in 308 out to 880 yds.and it's great, but betond that the NF is head and shoulders better. It's better at shorter ranges.... If price isn't an issue go with the NF or a S&B. .02

I know this is a change of subject but do you have any knowledge on the Choate stock particularly the Choate Ultimate Sniper Stock for Savage. The savage I have is a target rifle but I use it as dual purpose for hunting.

Between Leupold and Nightforce there is no question. Nightforce is the better scope. As for the stock. I had one on a Winchester of mine and my impression is that it is only a fair stock. The forend is flexes a lot when stressed and the stock is designed for prone shooting. Thus it is much less comfortable off hand.

Whole bunch of votes for NF over Lupy there. I really must try one. May I ask what it is that makes them so much better? Do the objectives fall out of Lupys or what? I use a Lupy Mk4 and it seems just fine. I don't want to seem disrespectful or antagonistic. I think the NF scopes are more expensive. I don't like having to remove the battery to adjust the illumination intensity! Is it true that is what is necessary?

Unfortunately my friend it is true, straight from the owners manual, you have to use a screwdriver to adjust it in the battery compartment, es no bueno plus i am a die hard front focal plane scope guy, whats the point of having magnification if you cant do the math on the mildots/dashes anymore you know?
