which height bipod do you prefer for prone

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

This issue isn't so much more then 9" but LESS then 9". For prone, go with the BRMS.

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

I prefer the 6-9,I have not had any need over that.I had bought the extension legs for my Atlas bipod but have never used them.

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

6"to9" is my choice. I've never even had my bi-pod out to 9". I go as low as possible when in prone.

no issue.
I prefer the notch.....faster. The swivel mount levels your rifle.

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

Get the notched legs and the swivel or do not even get a bipod. Those are the features you will be happy you got when its all said and done.

Look up Triad Tactical. He seems to have exactly what you need in stock!! Probably the best price too!

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

6-9 with notched legs

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

6-9 w/ notched legs and swivel for sure and get a pod-loc to.. check Bruno shotters supply for the best price.

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

The 6-9" is great for shooting from a slab at a square range. If you are going to the field, the 9-13 works better for me while prone. The extra room will get you over obstacles/brush and grass much easier in the field.

Cheers

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

i went for 6-9. in our area (lots of rocks, few fields, mainly woods), that's more than enough.

btw: order from triad

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

If you are shooting from a nicely mowed area, a bench, a deck, or other prepared place, the 6-9 is fine. If you plan on plopping down on a patch of field somewhere, the 9-13 is much better since you likely don't carry a weed eater in your kit with you. I'm all about the 9-13 leg notch swivel. If I want to get really low, fold the bipod, use a pack or my rear bag (triad wedgie) as a rest on the front and go to work. The taller bipod works much better in the real world.

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

I've never had to go above the lowest setting on my 6-9 except to correct for level issues (didn't get the swivel choice)

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

what i have to admit is ... terrain. in my area (alps), 6-9'' is more than good enough. when i was hunting in germany (central western part), i was happy to have grass 'only' reach up to my belly

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

I prefer the 6-9 over here in the Austin, TX Hill Country. The only trouble I start having is when the grass is tall and I have to get the bipod into the +7" range; my stock sock doesn't quite do the trick anymore. Then it becomes "adapt and overcome".

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

I ended up getting extensions for my Atlas, as I always preferred the height to get the rifle butt in the crook of my shoulder. Lower seemed to get it on the collar bone, which got uncomfortable in the recoil pulse. As a bonus, there are quite grassy areas here where getting up above it was mandatory.

Re: which height bipod do you prefer for prone

Since I like to shoot with a rear bag, the 6-9 works best for that.
