I am setting up a Long range shooting clinic for some Purple Heart vets. I have a location and I have some targets I can borrow for the event. I am the Assistant Wildlife Biologist at the Purple Heart Ranches that are run by Military Warrior Support Foundation. This will be the first time I have tried to do a shooting clinic. I am looking for any advice or help anyone is willing to provide. Thanks everyone in advance for the help.

Re: Purple Heart Ranch shooting clinic!

Bless you, bless your effort. I think the approaches the various wounded Veterans' support groups employ are truly effective.

Without taking anything away, I am myself a 100% Service Connected Disabled Veteran, without any enemy action component to my disability. I realize that sets folks like myself apart from the MOPH folks, and I appreciate the distinction.

Some of us could use something similar. Do you know of anything that might suffice? If nothing exists, maybe it should.

Re: Purple Heart Ranch shooting clinic!

I am still trying to decide on dates. It's getting so hot out that we could only realistically do the shooting early morning. I was thinking a weekend event. Show up Friday evening, BBQ on Friday, saturday shooting practice and instruction in the morning, then possible fishin in the evening, shooting competition on Sunday morning and head out after competition. What do you think?

Re: Purple Heart Ranch shooting clinic!

medium rare is a great guy and a straight shooter. Any help with targets, ranges or instruction would be greatly appreciated! These veterans sacrificed everything for us, so lets try to give a little something back ie. volunteering, supplies, range time donations. Lets make this a great event for them.

He is not asking for money just some help/supplies.

Re: Purple Heart Ranch shooting clinic!

You may want to re-title to something like disabled veteran's shooting clinic or wounded warrior shooting event. That way more people will understand what it is for when they look at the thread.

Maybe that and see if you can get it in the LE/Mil forum on this site.

Re: Purple Heart Ranch shooting clinic!

This is a good thing, and I commend you for doing such. As it is, to drum up interest and donations, maybe the Bear Pit would be a better locale? Not to mention also, approaching LowLight and having this added to the SnipersHide newsletter.

Just a few suggestions.

Re: Purple Heart Ranch shooting clinic!

I'll keep my eye out for more details. I would enjoy driving over and participating.

Also on the Mil/LE section; there are a lot of us that don't have access since we are no longer active duty service members.

Thanks for putting this together...

Re: Purple Heart Ranch shooting clinic!

thanks for y'all input i will post it in he bear pit as well. I never go there and I guess that is why I did not think of it. I did pm Lowlight but did not think to ask him about the new letter (I did not we had one, lol). here is his response;

"All he can do it post like he has done, word of mouth will carry it along with others speaking about it"

So that's why I reposted it in the mil/leo forum. I am sure Lowlight gets many off the wall requests for some kind of support or favor. No big deal, I am use to doing my own things.

PJ has been out of town. I just got off the phone with him and he will be checking in and contacting people in-regards to help etc... PJ said that he tries to do as little on the computer as possible. He is old school like that I guess.

Thanks for your support.

Re: Purple Heart Ranch shooting clinic!

This sounds like an awesome opportunity to help our warriors. Whether your disabled or not there is nothing that is more therapeutic than doing the things you love. God Bless you for your efforts. I normally work on the weekends and it seems life is very busy for me these days, but I would love to help out in any way that I can. I have been at this shooting thing for a while and I'm pretty sure that I could give some assistance where needed. I'm also sure that I could drum up a few targets from various friends of mine.

I know LongArm on a personal level...you will meet no better individual. If he says medium rare is a good man and this project is legit, than it is...period.

Kirby, I'm sure some of our local guys who don't frequent the Hide much would jump at the chance to help.

I look forward to the opportunity at meeting you, Mr. medium rare.
