Yes that's true, but not here on the west side as of now anyway. But I'm sure it won't be long.

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

Can you still hunt lions in OR? If so can you run hounds on them?

Yeah we can hunt them but not with dogs, someone thought that was to cruel to the animals. Same old story, the people that don't live here seem to make all the rules. Anyway with the brush here on the west side of Oregon is so thick it would just be luck to get a cat.

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

Had a buddy shoot one on duty last night, in a residential neighborhood. The deer have learned to live in town to get away from the cats. We use to only have deer in town during the winter months...now they're here year round. The cats have apparently figured that out and made the appropriate adjustments.

Or maybe the wolves have pushed them out of the hills. Either way, our game populations have been f**ked for the past decade and getting worse.

I hear ya, it's to bad wolfs and cats aren't good eaten we might have something there.
Now this is just my opinion, but I don't think releasing the wolf and doing away with dog hunting cats in Oregon has anything to do with animal preservation. I think it all about doing away with hunting all together. And you know the sad part is they might just get away with it.

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

Man I'd like to get a cat like that!!

Maybe I'll go out this weekend with the call and just stare at a clear cut for about 4 hours......

You know I hate to admit this but I missed one like that, long shot(500 yards) but a shot I alway make. There wasn't much time and I missed judges the distance, couldn't of missed by more then a inch or so but never the less a miss. In my 40+ years of hunting I've only seen 4 cats like this one.
Good luck with your hunt,

I have heard mountain lions ARE good eating! I am told they taste like pork. (I was going to say cougars are good eating, but everyone probably already knows that.)

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

Aw man I just sent my rifle to Jered, we could have had a Snipers Hide cat killin party. But maybe we still could...

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

I'm in on the cat killing party, but I draw the line when it comes to eating cats or dogs. Think I'll stick to grass eating critters, there's something about eating critters that eat meat for there food. Guess I'm just finicky that way. But while were at it might as well have a dog killing party too, meaning wolf's and coyote's.

So what about bears that play on both teams?

Now I have heard that these little black bear around here make good sausage, but as for the grizzlies no thanks I'll leave those for you.

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

I was just out letting my dogs run for exercise.......I didn't know they would chase that cat down, they've never done that before.

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

That's funny you would mention that, I have the same problem with my dogs. Smart dog think a like, ;^)

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

Can you legally bait them or use an E caller?
I would give that a try.

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

Can't bait but can call, and of course if you hunt near your recent gut pile, you might get a bear or cat.
I have to step over large fresh bear doo doo to get to my stand. In the dark.
One time I am going to meet that guy on the way in or out, and have to consider dropping him.

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

Yeah once hunting season starts we'll see if we can get a deer close bye and set up and do some calling. That is if there are any deer left, be fun trying anyway. Make it easy because I own the land where he was spotted in the woods.

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

Neat pics of the lion...I'd make a rug of it...feet gotta stay warm too.

Or slather yourself with bacon grease and get in your shooting position on a big silver platter. Cat won't know what hit him.

LMAO

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

I don't know much about cats but don't they have a very large territory? I saw one about eight years ago on my deer lease while I was scouting just before bow season, I gave him plenty of room.

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

i'm guessing that cat won't be satisfied with just a saucer of milk instead of eating the deer population

(I think the problem that we are getting now is that they no longer hunt with dogs and with all the brush we have here in western Oregon is simply is no way to control the population.)

(No my guess is they kill for both food and fun, just like any other cat. Damn pussies anyway !!)

Nice pic game cameras get addictive never no what u will have on film

( Boy are they ever, got some more ordered. I know of some places to get some cool bear pics.)

Very cool, details...details tell me more. Or is this the three S's, shoot, shovel and shut up. :^)

Congrats in any case, the deer and hunters will love you.

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

Mountain biking with the wife up the Selway last month and ran into this mature female. Snuck up on her in spandex with a 7mm magnun. Did'nt want to ruin the hide so nicked her in the back at about 80 yds. 9mm to the neck and headed home.

Having a life sized curled up with head up mouthed closed mount done.

I love Idaho.

This is Idaho.

Had loaded the bikes about a half hour before and was headed home. 7mm mag in the back seat of the dodge and the 9mm XD in my pack.

Never know when something might need gunning down.

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

'sides what's wrong with mountain biking with a 7mag?
smile.gif
more folks in Kommiefornia should do it!

Good looking cat and I'm jealous as hell.

I have to say that I read your post twice...something about sneaking up on her in spandex? where did she have spandex?

someone on here says punctuation is the difference between "Help your Uncle Jack, off his horse" or "Helping your Uncle Jack off his horse!"

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

I thought everyone knew spandex is the ultimate ghillie material
eek.gif

As far as "Helping Uncle Jack Off your horse", I would'nt think a guy would need punctuation to tell what side of that fence he stood on.

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

Here is a shot of the skull of a lion I called in here in Idaho . Old damn cat . I can't help but think of all the deer and elk they kill in their lives , especially when I see a Pumpkin head or an oldie like this one .

Re: Here Kitty, Kitty

Longsprang, that's some serious wear on those teeth. I imagine they've taken a few wallhangers in their day.

Wireman, I do dig the spandex camo idea. I know it would give me a few extra moments for a good shot; most everything would be laying on the ground laughing their asses off a the fat bastard in spandex

Cheers,
Breeze
