Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

Let's hope this time around goes better than the last time, especially rimfire wise.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

Me and my crew will be in on this one for sure!! I hated that we weren't able to get it done the last time around. I am really impressed by the growing prize table listing!!

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

So if I'm going to purchase targets, I only need to purchase enough for the Summer, Fall and Snowflake? Which is two each or a total of 6?

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

You can do the yearly subscription, or purchase your targets separately. I do ours separate each time around, simply because I have no idea who all is going to shoot each time.

You can purchase up to 4 targets of centerfire rifle, and 4 targets of rimfire, per person that will be shooting.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

CRAP! I didn't get the targets shot. Work has been kicking my ass. I was planning on going out this weekend and then I looked at the website to find that the deadline had passed. My one resolution this year was to shoot all the STS matches. Damn!

Simple answer... Nope.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

Well I just shot my targets yesterday. I switched it up a little and shot my Savage 17HMR for the rimfire and did pretty well. I then went to grab my trusty bug hole shooting 243 and realized that I buzzed tooooo many hogs with it and forgot to reload my 105's. So due to me leaving for vacation tomorrow and having no time to reload and shoot..... I grabbed a box of CRAP and I mean CRAP Rem CoreLokt and went to town. I was embarrassed enough that I debated not sending the target back the ammo shot so terribly. (And NO it wasn't me!) My target seriously looks like a 00 buck round smacked it and talk about dirty. So if any of you guys are thinking on turning in blank targets just for the drawing......Shame Shame Shame on you!

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

Just shot both my targets and they were great! Probably the best combined two i have ever turned in. No wind and everything fell into place....finally.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

THe vibberts have our targets on the way back, some were pretty and some not pretty but definitely another good time!

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

Sent our rimfire targets in. Used wolf ammo this time...a lot better, will deffinately be buying more. Didn't get to shoot our centerfire targets this time, didn't have anything to shoot them with. Oh well, money went to a good cause. Thought about trying them with my .22 at 100 yards but decided against it. Will be better prepared for the next round hopefully.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

Definitely nothing but lottery tickets this time around. We just about all had to shoot at different times, but it was still fun all the same.

Best of luck to everyone!!

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

We have a group that hunts together and has a friendly match to warm up for hunting season - the Texas Warm Up Match in August, when it is on the "warm" side here.

This year I signed everyone up for the STS. When I showed them the targets everyone was saying, "that looks doable."

After about the third or fourth shot, things were pretty quiet other than some cussing and grumbling up and down the line.

The walk back from the first finished target had lots of grumbling and staring down at targets in frustration.

After her first target, my wife started complaining that her scope was "broken."

But, she came back to win one of the relays.
cup.gif

By the fourth target everyone was doing better and vowing to sign up for the next STS and do better.

Everyone kicked in some extra to send to americansnipers.org to try to help at least one guy out "there" somewhere.

Thanks for running the match Jason, as always, lots of frustrating fun.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

Man, I only got to shoot up one of my CF targets. I meant to load up more this last weekend, but never got over there. Crappy crappy score.I didn't even bother to count it up. I don't think I cracked 3 digits.

I am happy with my RF score though.

This is never a surprise to me where you are concerned. Super consistant dude... I am going to try and build up a 22LR specifically for this competition. I hope to get just somewhere in the neighborhood!!

I have already built a gun for the comp!!! LOL, and I am thinking about getting another one going. Maybe a little 6mmBR or something.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SUMMER 2012 - Entry OPEN!

Yeah, I understand that part. I am looking at also building a 6.5 Creed to go along with the custom 22LR. I have the Smiley Addiction!! LOL

Smack-The-Smiley... Funny name, serious competition!!

Definitely.

This competition has really taught me more about shooting than any other form of practice. I just introduced some friends to it, and now a couple are hooked also.

These things are not smiling at us, they are laughing from 100 yards away.
