So I got my SS 5-20x50 mounted up with Seekins low rings and found that BC caps won't fit. Im not sure that I'd like them that much anyway.

I've been looking at the Scopecoat and ScopeShield products. Does anyone else use either of these and if so, can you tell me what size you got to work with the large turrets?

Thanks.

Re: Scopecoat or ScopeShield

I have a few scopecoats. I used to have the butler creek on all of my rifles, but got tired of the eye cap lid hitting my hat or getting in the way. The 50mm cap looks like a frickin ships porthole.

Anywho

For my Weaver 3-15x50 I have the Scopecoat XP-6 Flak Jacket. It is 6mm thick and has side material to cover the turrets. It will take care of business.

The other I have is the normal 2mm scopecoat, it is on a 4-16x44 vortex (although it should fit up to a 52mm obj). I like this one a little better as it is easier to get on and off. Just because it is a little thinner. Mine is the OD version.

either one will do the job, they are great to keep sand and dust out, also from having crap scuff the tube bodies. Got mine from optics planet.

Re: Scopecoat or ScopeShield

Fantastic man!! Thanks for the great post!

So, the bottom scope *looks* to have close to the same size turrets as my scope and obviously works well on yours. I may try that one.

Re: Scopecoat or ScopeShield

I've got a ScopeShield Alaska scope cover on my SS 3-9x42, and I'd recommend it. That's the way I'd go for that style scope cover. That said, I can't advise you on the size since I've never used one on the 5-20x50, but I'm sure if you call them they can tell you which size you need.

Re: Scopecoat or ScopeShield

So, I ended up ordering the 14x52 Large and the 15.5x60 Extra Large ScopeCoat.

Both fit the SS 5-20x50 scope well. The 14x52 Large fit it a *little* stretched, and the 15.5x60 Extra Large fits it very nice and relaxed. This is the one that stayed on the SS scope.

For anyone who reads this and runs a Mueller AVP scope on their rimfire, the 14x52 Large fits it very nice and relaxed, which is where that one ended up.

Just wanted to follow up in case someone else searched someday and needed the info like I did.
