I have found myself torn between 2 different scopes with bushnell hdmr with the g2 reticle or a nightforce f1 with a mos reticle. I'm looking for some opinions that have used either and their thoughts on these two scopes. The scope is going on my new 308 and will be for long range target shooting. Any info will help thanks.

Re: bushnell hdmr or nf f1

Have used both and the HDMR get's my vote. Love the NF but for the $$ you cannot beat the Bushnell. If I were going somewhere that my life was on the line I would pony up for the NF but that is not case for me. You mentioned LR target work and the HDMR will do just fine for you in that respect.

Re: bushnell hdmr or nf f1

I agree with the above. I have an NF and the Bushnell HDMR G2 and while not better than the NF the Bushnell gets my vote based on the price difference between the two and too my eyes the HDMR looks pretty damn good. Can't go wrong with either.

Re: bushnell hdmr or nf f1

I have both and shoot both. Can't say a bad thing about either. I do like the G2 reticle in the HDMR, but I like the 10mil turn and Zero stop on the NF. But the Bushnell is way cheaper. I don't think you would be disapointed with either.

Re: bushnell hdmr or nf f1

I own both and like both.

NF...Do you need illumination? Need a zero stop? Like 10 mil knobs? Is 15X enough for you ?

DMRG2...No frills, gets the job done. Some recent reports of CA and image quality issues in recent shipments.

Re: bushnell hdmr or nf f1

You will find a very good video of Tyler Kemp of GAP using the Bushnell at LR. It is the 9th one, I think, in the series in the Bolt Gun section here on the Hide. Good thread with lots of info.

Not to mention Bushnell is currently working on a HDMR "Gen II" that incorporates 10-mil turrets and zero stops.

Bushnell HDMR Gen II

I have been asking myself the same question, NF F1 (H58) or Bushnell HDMR (H59)... I know NF is better glass... but I dont see how NF justifies a $1000 dollar price increase for adding a FFP and Horus reticle.

Standard SFP NXS 3-15x50 = ~$1800
NF NXS F1 H58 3-15x50 = ~$2800
Bushnell HDMR 3.5-21x50 =~$1800

proposed HDMR Gen II = ~$1800 <- What i'm waiting for.

Re: bushnell hdmr or nf f1

If you can afford it, I doubt you'll be disappointed in an F1.

Re: bushnell hdmr or nf f1

Have owned both, got the F1 when it first came out and sold it about a year ago. Both are robust in construction with clear glass, the F1 just didn't have enough top end for me to keep it around. If you're going to be spending that much I would take a look at the March 3-24, I cannot express how incredibly impressed I am with March.
