So i'm shooting a rem 700 chambered in .223rem. I've been shooting once-fired LC brass that's been FL sized. I've been using a collet neck sizer after the rounds have been fired through my gun, and haven't had any issues, until last night. A few weeks ago I bought a WFT, and absolutely LOVE it on the FL sized brass...but when I went to trim up some brass that I shot over last weekend....they won't seat in the WFT. I got one piece to seat, but had to push it VERY hard...and then it didn't want to come out! I got it out, and tossed it, and tried others...but same story...

Does remington chamber these things loose??

I think he is talking about a "World famous trimmer" (or something along those lines)

That's what I was thinking...

Fairly loose chambers, looooooong throats, etc., etc., etc. Those things tend to sum up Remington factory tubes from my experience. Their tolerances are pretty loose and it is possible that your rifle's chamber is on the far end of the "acceptable" range.

Yep.

My suggestion is to stop neck sizing and start bumping the shoulder using a FL die.

Re: Loose chamber on rem 700?

If you're only neck sizing, the brass shouldn't grow much at all for a few firings. By then, they will probably be hard to close the bolt and require FL sizing (to bump the shoulder back), after which you can then trim them.

I FL resize every time (minimum should bump), as I have found little to no discernible improvement by neck sizing and like the 100% reliability that FL sizing provides.

Re: Loose chamber on rem 700?

i guess I kind of misspoke some....it's not the over all length of the case...it's the diameter of it.. the neck and shoulder are fine, it's the larger/main part of the case behind the shoulder that's not allowing it to seat in the trimmer...

Re: Loose chamber on rem 700?

well the problem with that is that I'd prefer to shoot with the brass fire formed to the chamber...i always shoot much better groups that way, with this particular gun.....i guess I kind of understand why now....

back to the manual trimmer :-/
