I have multiple cans and dig em. My question is this, does a suppressor act like a muzzle brake in decreasing felt recoil? Or is more of the added weight on the end of the gun? Or a little of both?

I have a AAC 7.62SD-N on my 5R Remmy. I have a double chamber brake adapter on the gun. When I shoot without the can, its very soft shooting and with the can as well. Is the brake working inside the can?

Shed some light.

Suppressors generally act like brakes because they capture the forward forward momentum of the gasses and pull the gun forward, opposite recoil. In .338 and larger, you will generally feel more recoil with a suppressor compared to the best brakes out there for those caliber.

The brake doesn't really "work" in the suppressor any different than a baffle works in the suppressor to capture gas and counteract recoil. It might be more accurate to say the brake acts like a baffle.
