Re: Badger Ordnance rust

This is not typical with Badger products. Give them another call, and tell them it did not work. I assure you they will make this right.

Touche...could that be why it's only $40?

What exactly is your point? You have not even installed said rail on your rifle because you are too worried about the way it LOOKS. Now if it were cut out of spec as to where the rings would not go on or the hole were drilled off center as to where the base did not line up with the bore I would agree with you that there is a problem. But unless you are going to be keeping this gun on your mantle and stare at it all day while jacking off in your mommies basement, who cares about a little surface rust.

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

Dude it's parkarized carbon steel it rusts quite easily.I recommend never getting your ring cap screws wet or your head may literally just explode.

Here's a quick cheap fix.Go to a parts store get a can of brake clean and a can of ceramic header paint. With a stainless brush clean it up the best you can.Blast it real good with the brake clean.Spray it with the paint cook it at 350 degrees for an hour or so.You'll have no more issues.

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

I'll put my "rusty" badger rail up against some POS $40 rail any day

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

Jesus, if your that ticked off with the rail, put it in the for sale section on the hide here, and then take the proceeds after it sells (and it will, quickly) and buy something else and be done with it.

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

762frmafr, is that the way you handle things when one of your customers have a problem? You're f**king worst than a teenage girl stirring shit! Danny, if it really bothers you, send it to Badger and let him take care of it. Once you get it back, you can either mount it/sell it. I wouldn't get to worked up on rust because no matter what you do, if you use your rifle. You are going to get some. Even if you go with seekins, you're still going to get rust on the screws(at least I do). Hope you get things worked out.....btw, add a little mud to your rifle and it adds character

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

First: If you simply send it to BO, they'll return it to you in new condition. Whether they brush it, blast it, re-park it or replace it, you'll get a "new" one back. BO is first rate, and Marty is GOOD people.

Second: Unless you coat it, or keep it slathered in oil, it's gonna rust in service. Period.

Third: The mil-spec "coating" is not a coating at all, it's a surface treatment. It is called parkerizing, and while it will essentially never "rust out", it will get an orange haze, and still requires oil/ptotectant.

Fourth: While BO bears blame for delivering your part with rust on it, they've owned up, and told you they'd fix it. Sounds good to me. BO doesn't however bear any blame for you not liking the mil-spec park treatment.

Fifth: If you buy aluminum stuff, it won't rust.

Danny, are you and scratched nightforce guy friends? Where's VJJ when you need him

Just busting your balls bro

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

I have a lot of BO bases and rings and have yet to get anything NIB from them with rust on it. But if I did they would be getting it back. Things that are used aquire character (rust & scracthes) NIB kit is to be delivered in new condition. And that does not include rust.

It is amazing that Badger would not at least offer to replace the base. Not good for their reputation as a first tier supplier.

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

It took you over 10 days to figure out.....? WTF! Even then I don't see SWFA not replacing it; and I don't see Marty telling you he's gonna "oil it up" and send it back to you!

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

Guess we will never hear from Paul Harvey....

And now..." you know the rest of the story! "

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

it looks like dried up oil to me, try some solvent and see if it comes off.
hope this helps.

+1 If my Badger stuff had rust on it, I'd be pissed. I know it's frivolous, but in this price range it really needs to be perfect.

+1, all their stuff is coated with cosmolene, hose it down with WD-40 and then wipe it off.

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

Call and talk to Marty at Badger - he won't tell ya to oil it down & wipe it off!!

Marty will take care of ya - he's good people!!

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

When you pay for new product, you have the right to new product. Free of any defects. At the price point being the most you can pay for a base I would want a rust free one to!!
The BO fan boys really came out for this one and made it worse not better!!

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

It's a crack up that this is the most active thread tonight - what the hell here goes. BO and SWFA are both losing some rep and business over this. It's the principle because if they won't replace a bloody rail then what happens with something more expensive. Let's say it's no big deal, they should still send a new one and tell Danny to send back the one they first sent when he has time. Lot's of eyeballs on this forum SWFA and BO!

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

If Badger doesn't make it right for some reason, still give the guys at SWFA a call. I'd be willing to bet money that they won't care you're over the 10 day limit or whatever.

Agreed, it's minimal, but that's not the point. You pay for quality then you should get it. If you wanted crap then you'd have bought a $35 rail.

</div></div> This is not to bash either company! And SWFA has nothing to do with it. I went over my 10 day return period that my fault. </div></div>

No offense intended, but you started this thread with some strong words and you were right. They watch the forum and they need to make this right - no way around it. I personally would have spit on it and rubbed it with an old sock before installing it, but I'm not you and your the customer. 10 day return or no they owe you satisfaction if they want any of my business.

Better - but he should just ship you the new one and let you send back the one you have at your leisure.

Re: Badger Ordnance rust

Saying anything negative about Badger on this site is pointless. Again, here comes Marty's cohorts with their words of wisdom that you should suck it up and take something less than advertised simply because they would and they don't care so why should you. I wonder if they received a S&B would they still think that even surface rust is acceptable when paying top dollar? He paid for a new product and he paid for quality. Not something with surface rust that even Badger said was packaged too soon. Being a Vendor or the great "Badger Ordnance" does not alleviate them from providing the advertised product and taking care of the customer.

I like how Badger is going to make him pay to ship it back...

Just for the record, Schmidt & Benders are overpriced.
