I'm wantin to get my stock an barrel painted along with the scope. What paint is recommended and what's the process to do it. Is it easier just to send it to gunsmith and have him do it?
There, searched it for you. You can have it sent in and Cerakoted by someone if you want the protective layer but obviously that's going to cost a lot more.
Start the adventure and personal relationship with your rifle and do it your self. There are a couple of good paints out there to use. Its easy to do and fun. I have been painting my rifles for years. some use canvas to express themselves I choose weapons
Plus if you decide you don't like the look anymore you can clean it down and start fresh. I'm sure you will find a ton of posts on here about paint patterns and tricks. Just remember to fit it to your environment and season.
Piss can Krylon has been my go to paint for years. It gets beat up after a while but that just gives the rifle character. I guess not everyone likes a beat up looking gun though. If not try Cerekote its tough as nails.
Depends on how much you want to spend. Cerakote like what Todd does holds up to pretty much everything and looks killer. A bunch of guys I shoot with use him and his work is top notch. I use Krylon camo paint as it holds up pretty well and fits my budget.
I agree on using paints that can be removed without a lot of work. So you can change it up from time to time. There will always be a new pattern you wish u had.
